Could be a possibility! The short version of the backstory I have in mind is that the butler was working for a general in the Empire's army when their ship fought the Corruption. The Empire lost, but the general had the butler go into sleep mode and launched him in a container out of the ship's missile bay to ensure that [i]someone[/i] escaped the Corruption. The butler's container drifts in space for however long the time is before the RP starts, then said container lands near wherever everyone's characters are.

Of course, all of that is subject to if it fits the plot and to GM approval, but the point is that our characters could plausibly interact.
