The reason why you probably see the trop inevitably pop up in every sci-fi RP is probably because most consumable Sci-Fi media is ground in more realistic weaponry, that’s not to say there aren’t universes that don’t, but most often not its very militaristic and just variations of munitions for varying weapons. While you are right the time period is drastically advanced in this RP there has been no real indications that basic gunfire would be rendered obsolete. Yes, I see some of our peers have robotic arms, laser guns, and energy shields but that doesn’t automatically disqualify basic firearms. Your analogy on the standard load out vs the guns I’m listing doesn’t really hold up here since the Beretta 92FS/M9 are part of the standard loadout for civilian and military use at the moment. I would give you the revolver though since they’re not commonly used anymore in military scenarios (barring some nations). I don’t have any issue with coming up with unique sci-fi guns, my theme was simply following a non-augmented outlaw/modern day cowboy using standard reliable load outs with some enhanced ammunition rounds (incendiary, cryo, sticky). As far as mass effect goes, I don’t think that is a good example either, the weapons in there don’t really have any wild base abilities and use single blocks of metal as ammo and was portioned off each round, unless you count Geth, Collector, non-human weapons. The augments and mods are what change the type of combat in the game. Ratchet & Clank or Jax & Daxter might be a little closer to the level of weapon ability you might be looking for? I want to thank Nawmaing for articulating points for me and has clarified what the universe consists of and what’s needed from me. So, I will edit my bio to mesh better with the cohesive idea.
