[*][u][b]Appearance:[/b][/u] Standing at five seven, Marietta comes off as both elegant and sophisticated. A proper magus from an influential family, she has been well taken care of and prides herself in her appearance. Short cut black hair, dressed in the latest fashions, fair skin and her family's jewels she always takes care of her appearance the best she is able.

Upon first impression, Marietta comes off as an affable big sister sort. Easy to get along with, and for whatever reason, she seems to give off a lackadaisical and easygoing air that almost seems infectious. And sure enough, Marietta herself doesn't like working hard. Or at least, she prefers to spend her days lazing about, painting, drinking tea or wine, and simply admiring her artwork or spending the day idly chatting. This, somewhat, is because of her rather spoiled upbringing - she is used to people doing things for her, without even having to ask.

Truthfully, Marietta is an incredibly selfish girl. She cares only for herself and those that have proved useful to her in some way. She's used to people doing things for her without even having to ask, and thinks most people should conduct themselves as such. While on the surface she seems as though she doesn't care nor pays attention to her surroundings, Marietta possesses and incredibly calculative and shrewd cunning when it comes to people and things, and while she dislikes it, she has no qualms doing things herself if its believable they need to be done.

Carrying her families tradition, Marietta is well versed in one particular form of craft - that is Runes.

Her runes carry a variety of effects as one may expect. When placed upon surfaces and combined with other runes, one can create a variety of simple bounded fields, or even placing them upon a person for a more direct effect over them. When inscribed upon flesh, she can create protective wards or charms - or curses - for whoever she has decided to use it on.

She is extremely well versed in modern runes, as pale of an imitation as they are, and are where most of her magecraft comes from. Currently inscribing effects of multiple Runes is difficult, making her typically stick to simple one-word castings, but she is constantly practicing and striving to develop her abilities.

Aside from this, she does have skill in most common forms of magecraft. Possess an Alignment of water.

More uniquely, her family has spent a number of years attempting to perfect their craft and have created several tools to help facilitate such a thing. Namely both her paintbrush, which is "Yggdrasil's Branch" and a unique, expensive paint "Yggdrasil's Sap". The Brush functions as a sort of supportive tool, allowing it to facilitate the use of, and store magical energy. When used for her runes, it essentially allows for an easier flow, creating more stable and stronger effects. The paint, once applied to a surface binds with the object in a more permanent fashion. Effectually, this makes the rune inscribed much harder to tamper with, creating a far more permanent effect, even allowing the object to withstand physical harm. Perhaps its best described as a paint that inherently increases the Runes 'luck' against being destroyed. However, the paint is rare and incredibly difficult to synthesize, and is only used sparingly.

[*][u][b]History:[/b][/u]
Marietta's family traces their roots to their Gaelic and Norse ancestry, supposedly having settled in the region sometime during late ages of the Viking Era. While a fairly old family, they are not particularly well known in magic circles, if only because of their own desire to remain as such from the rest of both the world and their fellow mages. Unlike some others, they have no desire for some ill sought after power, or some other such grandiose folly.

They only care about their research, and if it should bring them a degree of recognition, that would only be a side effect.

Marietta was born to her parents, and quickly took to studying as well as her families crest and the mysteries of magic. Most of her early life was spent being waited on hand and foot, her family desiring to give her as much comfort and leeway the next heir of their family could have. It worked, at least somewhat. Certainly, she grew well to her studies, but she developed a somewhat...lazy attitude towards it.

Even so, she was considered the be a shining example of what they were looking for in an heir. Knowledgeable, skillful, and understanding at times a certain need for...discretion. Still, her motivation and complacency could use a bit of work. Deciding that she wanted to further her education as well as her skills, as well as a chance to potentially meet servants, with her parents permission and backing, she made her way to Fusang City.

On the off chance she could meet a servant skilled with Runes, that would be a worthwhile investment.
