DOB 482 R.C║Male

Physical Appearance
A short young man. Standing heads below most adults in the Zern Empire, and notably shorter than the youths that should be his peers. His form is thin and weak, and looking on him his clothes feel a bit off even when they’re made to fit him, due to the frailty that he exudes. This is all the more emphasized by his more mature features that look aged beyond his years. Rather than a youth he seems more a troubled young adult. His brown eyes meanwhile are often tired looking, puffy and reddened. His hair is also brown, but wispy and thin in color, with some strands even being white. But the base of it has slowly become more full with a darkening brown. When he dresses he tends to go for whatever is comfortable. Most often he ends up in casual attire. Prioritizes having at least a deep hidden pocket or two that he usually loads up with snacks. All in all the sort of person who gives the wrong impression on multiple levels.
Personality Traits:
Confident Curious [s]Dreamer[/s] Far-Thinker Fish Out of Water [s]Blunt[/s] Honest A Touch Aggressive Conflicted and Unsure Wasteful… for a Terran.
Biography:

He tapped his fingers across the controls and pulled on the lever. Some called it a waste, but it was his own choice, his own time and effort. He’d made sure to do his own work, to more than earn his share, and provide so the dissident whispers that spoke of what else those materials, that circuitry could be used for. It wasn’t like he had many shots either. In opportunity or in what was loaded up. So he thought about what he wanted to use this for, how he wanted to use it. It was easy to say that he’d make something to take revenge, or to make something to protect them. But he couldn’t fight them with this alone and expect to come out on top. It moved. His hands had been clammy and cold all day, but the response from the machine sent a jolt up his spine that spread through his body. It wasn’t warmth but it was life, a feeling that filled his grasp. Pride? He didn’t feel that yet. He’d feel pride when he shot one down… when he killed… He released his grip. For some reason the idea felt less real the more complete the skeleton he rode became. The more he saw how he could blast through massive rocks and shatter boulders that he used as target practice the less vivid the image in his head of it crashing through one of those ships as they flew down. They came, they left. WIth more than they arrived with. Did they really lack so much they needed to take from them, take them? It was only fair that one day they leave more behind on these dusty streets than it had before their visit. What he made was a step closer to becoming like them, standing as tall, no taller. They always came with great beasts, what seemed a man and a building alike as one. He knew of the weapons on paper now, he studied and learned of them. Old random bits of information and stored knowledge. From scrap and wrecks. Sometimes they saw the sky light up in fire in conflict after all. Not all of it was cleaned up afterwards. Could he also light the world on fire? Not that there was much to burn. Focus. What could he do? What would he do? That day came another ship from the stars. Another battle began, close to home, but at least not at home. But that was too much to begin with. Too much to ignore, too much to forgive. So he took his first step, first shot. The charge caused his frame to rattle for hours long after the battle ended, the engine that powered the “suit” whining with a blare that he couldn’t hear, buried under the pounding of his heart and ripped to shreds by the sound of the MAG shattering his world and sky. He watched in fascination, forgetting, burying the weight of his transgression and act as he watched a tall figure erupt into a fireball. His first kill began a new life.

It cannot be denied that strange individuals sometimes orbit the Royal Family, and the man that’s caused a bit of buzz from his strange liberties and mannerisms is certainly no less talked about than the others. But as much as a famed mystery, if only out of ignorance, as he is. The attitude towards his fame and his level as a celebrity surely pales to The Wyvern who breeds active debate, curiosity and speculation. In the end something that amounts to another Earthling, even as a strange savage native plucked out of his dead planet with strange talents. Including the claim, and later, proof that he could both pilot and also create a Mobile Suit (even if some military experts have scoffed when asked for their opinions on the trudgy and bulky weapon that resembles a strange comprise between old earth-weapons known as Tanks and Mobile Suit philosophies) Could never hope to capture the attention or respect of the people in the way of a trailblazer who leaves result and carnage in his wake. A footnote and curiosity kept mainly relevant by having his name accompany his patron and liege in various reports and articles. His fame is, I argue kept alive only by in the middle pages and minor articles meant to fill the space of quieter days. Earthling interest is nothing more than a fad, and the status of this Gaian a simple pet project by the Royal Family. If he is no slave then I argue he is nothing more than a simple pet paraded around to be cute and perhaps invite a bit of pity and misguided feelings of faux-empathy and likewise a faux-perception of kindness on the part of the one who holds his leash. " Walt Ryondite" - The Refined Word
A Earth native survivor that found himself thrust in the world in space, and life in the Zern empire. Gaia Dyrte found himself with the head and talent for working with technology, preserved and scavenged by his people at a young age. However despite finding satisfaction in working with, and creating various devices that helped the lives of himself and those around him, he found himself bitter and angry at those who came from beyond the stars to take the spoils and treasures of the broken planet. But even worse were those who took what could be considered the most precious. If the salvage and technology left behind on Earth had worth to the people who lived there, then it was in how it could make a harsh unforgiving life easier, and in how many it would allow to take another breath, to wake to another day. Value then was life and survival. A dream then was to have a future that was one small step easier for everyone involved. But Gaia wanted more than that. Indignity drove him to create his own weapon, to set upon the path of defending his people, to strike and destroy what he deemed the enemy. Whether they be Pirate and Slaver, Lunarian or even a Martian at the wrong place and time. Fighting against discouragement and concerns from the people that were his family he pushed himself to work to more than provide his keep and meet the demands of life while also being able to build up what he gathered and put together a rudimentary basic skeleton of a Mobile Suit. In mimicry of what he learned of weapons both from the earth’s past and stars. Then when a battle between pirates and Zern soldiers near his settlement of survivors came to his attention not long after the completion of his weapon he embarked on a decision that would change his life forever. Interfering in the battle and shooting down a pirate that had compromised the safety of the leader of the Zern, later revealed to be one of the royal family. He found himself approached with interest and curiosity, and after a tense and cautious stand off and negotiation, Gaia found himself recruited and pulled to the side of Zern and brought to the stars. A curious example of a free Earthling in Zern due to his patronage and his own service. He found himself slotting in awkwardly, a square peg in a round hole. As a kind of human typically seen only in the form of a slave, he left others at as much of a loss as he was in their world. Yet nonetheless he learned, he studied. Both of Mobile Suits, of the culture of Zern and their technological marvels. Things he never knew existed in his small and harsh world. Things that he could have never imagined. Culture so different, so rich and robust. Both in the new and old. Learning more of the stars and the world, learning more about humans and their differences. Gaia found himself faced with many questions. What was he to do, what should he work towards? Few from Earth could ask themselves that question. Back where he came from it was work to survive, live to not die. On Mars they simply fulfilled their duties as slaves, taking to fulfilling the desires and commands of their owners, both plucked away from hardship and yet given their own terrors and sorrows by those who plucked them away from home. Over the course of a year in living in the Zern Empire Gaia has gone through much schooling and even attempted to make his own contributions independent of his patron, even attempting to patent and spread ideas and technological creations to the civilian populace. Although his lack of full understanding of the manner and needs of civilized people have meant that he has found little success. More notable then was his refinement and true completion of the first weapon he attempted to create, utilizing the principles and sciences of modern Mobile Suit engineering, along with his strange ideas and knowledge brought from Earth. The weapon one of a kind made by himself, piloted by himself. The oddity in space that stood out as much as its maker. A few eyes linger upon him. But will they see him grow as a creator, or as a soldier?
Skills and Abilities
Engineering: A talent and knack of his, even before any formal education or access to the database of information present in more civilized society. Figuring how things work, how to make them work, and how to put them together is the talent that’s the pillar of support that has taken Gaia to where he is now. These talents are not limited to, but include the development and design of even Mobile Workers and Suits. Although it looks like there’s still plenty to learn and study from in modern common design. That’s No Soldier: While he has not gone through the training of a military academy cadet, and lacks the experience of a seasoned soldier. He is able to pilot, being able to utilize his own makeshift creation back on the Earth. Then being half-dragged, half willingly charging into battle after battle with his patron, Has, along with some pockets of generously given time to help him adjust to and understand military operations, given him some understanding of the disciplines that come with being a member of the army. As a soldier he still leaves much to be desired, but as a combatant and a member of her highness’s routine he has reached a point where he can’t be dismissed as just a citizen, and can even be relied upon. As far as ability for combat outside of a Mobile Suit, he’s able to handle unarmed people, and has experience dealing with wild Earth beasts with a weapon. However if he himself had to compete in a contest of strength he’s below most of the population whether they be Martian, or Venusian, refined, kai or not. Not your best bet for an arm wrestling contest. 1+1 equals: When it comes to figuring out how to line things up as he wants, Gaia has a head for numbers. While it isn’t that he has a special keen sense or exceptional eyes, he manages to manage to hit his targets and figure out when things intersect well. Malus: Terran: Life on Earth is difficult. The environment dead and unforgiving. What’s “edible” and isn’t sometimes has little a difference, and the very air itself is deeply poisoned. To many it would be considered completely unliveable, and perhaps they have a point. Yet to those who have managed to survive, their definitions of ok, and capabilities to withstand such environments are a bit different. A native earthling will be able to count the negative effects from breathing in such air in the span of years rather than days or hours, and perhaps to an extent there’s a bit of gut tolerance to certain toxins. Of course it doesn’t change the fact that such benefits are only “benefits” in a extreme condition that’s more a consolation prize more than anything. Earthlings are wracked with various health problems and unwell constitutions and conditions. Gaia is no exception, finding his breathing more difficult than those raised in Mars, and lungs wracked with pain at times. While faded for the most part now even bouts of anemia struck him. Otherwise due to mishaps in his nervous system he finds himself feeling rather cold and heatless at times. Particularly in his hands. But at least he doesn’t have any signs of cancer... Yet. -
Personal Items and Equipment
Top of the line Data Tablet: A journal, a means for recreation and study. Pretty much anything he could ever need or want in a neat little square. To the Gaia who lived in an environment where all things were scarce, the idea of using paper that isn’t required to be used is a bit unpleasant. Plus as much as he has a good head for keeping all his belongings together he’d rather not get too carried away. Contains locally an entire library of various things he’s studying or working on so he doesn’t come into an awkward period of having nothing to read on. Ultimately it's something a rich civilian could easily get however rather than anything top secret or special. 12 Gauge-Pump Action Antique Shotgun: One of the more common types of weapons floating around to those lucky enough to have them on the surface of the dead Earth. With a four shot capacity and a focus on being robust and reliable. It’s nothing fancy, but it works. Whenever taken with him it tends to be carried on his side with a sling made out of a kind of leather unfamiliar to most people.
Strengths and Weaknesses
An inexperienced person, both in age, culture and battle. Intelligence, talent and ability have brought him to the stage and could be polished further. But currently as is he's a muck-covered stone from the dead planet. His greatest asset is his different manner of approach, of thinking. Yet it also leaves him with difficulty in reaching a common understanding with others at times. While his differences have brought him attention it also serves as his greatest struggle. One may even ask if he will ever truly be like a normal citizen of the empire, whether one compares him to a Martian, Lunarian or Venusian. For the values of one who lives on the surface of the dead planet have been shaped by a hard, different life. In battle there's a certain aggressive edge to his performance. All the more against slavers and their ike. The tempered caution of maturity and experience something he lacks to guide his perspective at times. Otherwise his relatively poor health, both from his environment and his lineage as a Terran leave him rather weak in physical strength, and with some problems. With an entire year he has been making improvements through a vast improvement in environment, care and nutrition. But put up against most of even Venusians, and they'll tend to look hale and hearty in comparison.

M(obile) T(ank) P(latform)-00 Gyfnewid - The Terran Fossil

1st Generation Prototype, Draft 3 - Personal Use

Unique||Gaia Dyrte

Unit Appearance
When one looks upon the Gyfnewid, one may think of the Centaurs of old human mythology. Of one made out of a weird hybrid of a normal vehicle and a Mobile Suit. Not quite the iconic mechanical giant of a man. Not quite an armored carrier vehicle or car. Bringing hefty firepower and floating above the ground, it cries out its declaration to the stars as a harbinger of war. While it is shorter than most Mobile Suit, Its height does not leave it with a lesser presence to its peers as its stand out profile and even odder aesthetics. One might find themselves struck by the feeling that it is a sitting down giant, due to its tank design. Its colors are rather drab, forgoing any real paintjob, save for a layering of markings in letters and words that overlap, repeated hundreds of times to give it a makeshift coating of black in a mosaic painted on like ink by Gaia personally. If its pilot were asked, he would answer that he went off an old database of old languages and their words for victory or something. Yet mixed in clearly are a number of names, foreign and odd. It’s humanoid torso and head is rather blocky. It’s head is a forward-facing square, with a rising collar guard partially obscuring it, making it seem like a dome or head that was partially removed to expose the skeletal head within. A single compound bar sensor stretches across its smooth flat face, larger than that of the Redcoat or Tommy, glowing a dull red. Otherwise of note are its head mounted Vulcans. Placed like ears with a back extension that protrude upwards for the sake of mechanisms to fixate the guns. It adds a touch of a more humanizing element that still in of itself also feels different and inhuman, to the otherwise very mechanical creature. Really, it just looks plain weird when compared to the iconic image of a Mobile Suit doesn't it?
Technical Details
Accommodation: Pilot Only. Dimensions: 15x10x16 (In Meters) Powerplant: Medium-output Wilberforce Reactor “Overclocked” to a greater performance in order to compensate for the upkeep of the Maglev system. However it does not reach the level of a High-output Reactor. An adjustment that reduces stability. Combined with certain functions wear and degradation can also occur. With the defenses of the Gyfnewid and its role as something on the backlines the risk of an explosion is lower at least. Equipment and Design Features: A Mobile.. Tank? The Gyfnewid first and foremost stands out from its peers by essentially being a half-humanoid, half-weapons platform style of creation. The upper body and lower body can rotate and turn independently. While like a mobile weapon it can adjust, turn and change directions rather swiftly compared to a wheeled vehicle it is still slower in that regard to a normal mobile suit. Yet such drawbacks come with the benefits of greater stability, in aim and otherwise. Maglev Hover System: An old line of technology in place even before the development of technologies by Umhlaba.Utilizing a system of superconductive materials and magnets, the Gyfnewid is able to float and glide a little above ground. The frictionless and off the ground movement allows for smoother movement and the ability to better deal with its weight. Most of all it allows for the positioning over water surfaces and dealing with unstable grounding and terrain. In the case of failure, however the Gyfnewid comes with a continuous track locomotive system. These treads are tucked under its body, with a slight protrusion forward that has ended up increasing the length of the Gyfnewidand. The treads are covered by thinner layers of armor due to not being considered as vital to protect and because of the already rather heavy build of the machine. Sometimes they end up drawing the attention of enemy fire hoping to cripple the movement of the Gyfnewid, not knowing that damage to them does not particularly impact the integrity of the Maglev But it’s hard to say if that’s a welcome misdirection of enemy priority, or a unfortunate weakpoint. Heavy Liten Armor Covered all over with Liten. The Gyfnewid is a heavily armored, and of course, very heavy construct. While fairing better in land environments and battlefields with gravity in comparison to normal Mobile Suits due to its Maglev System. In space especially it is a rather slow vehicle despite its booster systems. Dual-Thruster Pack A engine-pack similar to that of the Tommy, although with the unorthodox profile of the Gyfnewid, it lacks in comparison the finesse in maneuvering and control that they have. However it does an adequate job at ensuring that the Gyfnewid’s space and land speed is enough to leave it as just somewhat slow, rather than be something that cannot keep up with its allies and foes. Reactor-Oversprint Thruster: An overclocked Thruster connected more intimately and directly with the Wilberforce Reactor at the core of the Gyfnewid. Letting out an instantaneous sudden burst of thrust with an overriding priority over all other systems. The Gyfnewid is sent rocketing forth in a chosen direction. Whether by utilizing the mechanics of space, or the hover-system it makes for not just a surprising burst but also a swift acceleration and propellant for a tactical retreat. While it stresses out the system and the Mobile Suit and also creates significant G-forces upon its pilot. The bulky and robust build of the Gyfnewid allow a mitigation of the negative effects to a degree. Something not so dire as to be considered a complete emergency option, but also something not to use so lightly. Overuse in quick succession may lead to a blow out of Thruster, Engine, or both.
Weapons and Combat Capabilities

Handheld Armaments
•120mm LEWIN-11 Machine Gun A common and reliable weapon. Seeing no reason to reinvent the wheel, the standard among Mobile Suit weaponry was given to the Gyfnewid as a close range weapon. Best suited for fending off enemies that have closed in, suppressive fire, and taking down lightly armored targets that do not require the other armaments. •“Screwdriver” 110mm Marksmen MAG Rifle Another area where innovation wasn’t seen as necessary. Fitting in with the weapons platform sniper role of the Gyfnewid, a weapon that was meant for lighter targets and quicker to use while still fitting within its focus.
Fixed Armaments
200mm “Starblazer” MAG Cannon A shoulder-mounted double-barreled MAG Cannon Boasting both long range and very high penetration. This weapon carries the hopes of its creator in shooting down those who come down to the earth from the stars. Although it has turned out to be useful in combat in the void of space as well. A gun a bit than even the oversized Whiskeys, it makes up for the size by being shoulder mounted on a much more robust machine. It's speed, and just how much it can "cook" is greater than a standard Whiskey. Finally A scope-esque sensor attachment allows for a more specialized long-range view for tactical and sniping purposes. •30mm Vulcan “Elf Ears”x2: Mounted onto the head of the Gyfnewid are a pair of weapons affixed via the external mechanisms that give its head-mounted weapons their distinct name. Loaded with 30mm bullets. Though not effective against mobile suit armor they can be used to shoot down incoming projectiles or for shredding smaller more lightly armored targets. •300mm Rocket Launcher A shoulder-mounted box rocket launcher that balances firepower and range with powder based ordinance. While possible to fire on the move, the accuracy can suffer, making it more of a medium ranged, or, if one is daring enough, a short ranged weapon. The capacity loaded is six shots. Thanks to the stability of the Gyfnewid's form the problems of recoil are easily dealt with, and while there is a slight difficulty in aiming if firing its entire payload at once. Movement while firing is not difficult.
Strengths and Weaknesses
The Gyfnewid is a strange beast in many respects. The unique ideas of Gaia Dyrte in putting together a machine of war leaving it a much estranged and distant relative to all other modern Mobile Suits. However its effectiveness and strengths cannot be denied, as it serves as something like a tank of olde and a weapons platform both. Which is then commanded with the mentality of a sniper. While it is as heavy as it looks and feels, it avoids the expected clunkiness and absolute slowness that should make a mockery of the Mobile part in Mobile Suit with its unique hover system and its booster power. However this weakness is only mitigated, not eliminated. The power that should go into the Maglev system is diverted to the boosters to try and keep its mobility to a similar level in space, although in that theater the mobility of other suits is emphasized over the Gyfnewid. Even with its tactical Sprint-boost engaging in normal combat with other mobile suits is not recommended. A fast or armored foe, or a group of weaker enemies in close to melee ranges can certainly threaten and defeat the Gyfnewid. Even if heavily armored and resistant to damage, its slower turning and lack of relative agility means that it is not well suited to fighting an unsupported battle in a more personal field of battle against multiple, or exceptionally speedy foes. However its separate-rotation and stability leaves it well suited for marksmanship while moving and engaging.
Technical History
The third iteration of the first weapon he put together back on earth. While some of the parts and metal comes from what he first made. The only thing truly carried over from the previous drafts are ideas and the spirit. With a brand new frame and base, the Gyfnewid-00 is the first true Mobile Suit class weapon made and completed by Gaia Dyrte. However it can also be called his attempt at taking the first cobbled together machine he rode and trying to update it to modern Mobile Suit doctrine. Its construction is the fruit of his vengeful labour on the earth, and the studies of the knowledge of the Zern Empire. Really should it even be called a Mobile Suit? With a focus on the systems, and painstaking attempts at trying to make the Maglev system feasible as the main mode of transportation in combination with thrusters. Little attempts at trying to provide it with unique weaponry was made by Gaia. The only thing that could be called unique, the "Starblazer" is in fact something that comes from the very first draft. Concerns about it being difficult to work with, with only Gaia knowing all the ins and outs of the unique machine, have also left him wanting to keep the weapons simple for easier replacements, resupplying and hassle-free inventory. Coming from earth and having thought of a weapon as a means to fight pirates and slavers growing up. The design philosophy of the Gyfnewid came with the idea of how it would be used on a planet surface, or in a gravity environment, rather than a focus on the space theater. Initial ideas included experimentation with a quadrupedal leg system. But all other ideas were shelved and put aside for the time being once Gaia decided upon the Maglev system. Ultimately he decided on it as a means to deal with the variety of terrain possible, battlefield damage to leave uneven and perilous ground, and the tactical advantages possible in hovering above water surfaces for naval combat. The focus on booster movement also then allowed for the sprint-boost function to be a viable feature out of zero-gravity environments as well. The inspiration for the Maglev system allegedly comes from old systems on Earth for trains that he read about.
