Mary and Catherine began talking. apparently, things had been hard on catherines' family ever since her father was not only forced to step down, but vanished afterwards. Mary tried to be of comfort, but she had been in a bad way herself, having to look over her shoulder all the time out of fear. Catherine tried to change the subject.

"Did you make the cover of that gown magazine?"
-"I did but they had me in that weird green dress, the one with black roses on it for some reason."
"that is strange."
-"yes, it is."
