Since you 'axed' there is a GEAR-sized axe available, and I'm sure it'd be more than possible to custom-make a machete; after all, it's not much of a reach if there's already a knife and an axe - perhaps our friendly combat engineer could oblige you xP 
Maybe you could fashion it out of a discarded VTOL rotor blade or something cool like that?
