It was actually easier said than done; the numerous bodies around her seemed to be at a standard far above one she was used to. If she stood out, it was because she was a little too aware how awkward she was compared to the rest. Still, the beauty of the place was hard to miss, and she was content to step aside and let everything move around her. The view out into the water was what had drawn Lilie over to the window, or rather, the wall of glass. Standing in front of the glass, she could see the shoreline, momentarily dazed by the movement as the waves gently lapped the sand. She caught sight of herself reflected on the glass, and nearly startled herself. While she had always made it a point to pride herself in her appearance, once again the academy went above and beyond to show her that that too could stand to be improved on. The dress Mariette had given her glimmered gently, the off the shoulder bodice decorated with flowers and lace in a pattern that she found herself adoring. It was a short dress, but the chiffon skirt billowed out around her in asymmetrical layers, longer in the back than it was in the front. Her golden heels were simple, the mask given to her just as beautiful as her dress, though she could have gone without the feathers if she was being honest. Her hair was in waves again, something she hadn't expected to see again so soon, but this time it was pinned away from her face with a pair of golden pins. Shaking her head at herself, she kept herself staring out at the ocean, deaf to the music and words of the people around her. For some reason, she found herself still struggling to adjust to the extravagance of it all, feeling graceless and bumbling in comparison to those born into the role. Her concerns were muted; she didn't think Mariette would understand, and she didn't think it would be in good taste to go back after having come all this way. Still, there was something nice about the calm beauty of nature that comforted her and helped her think more clearly. At least if she wasn't going to dance, she could just watch the ocean. Maybe she would go outside to get a better look.
