The rats followed him out of the building, save one who quietly slipped a shabby note into William's pocket. On the paper was a crudely written message. As the old saying went, the enemy of his enemy was his friend, but he wasn't sure if the director of science was an ally just yet. Only time would tell what side she was truly on, and whether she could contribute to their mission. Until then, they would do what they always did.
