Name: William Ascot Appearance:

Age: 16 Bio: William was born to Cyrus and Gilgamesha Ascot - The former was a lawyer and diplomat, while the latter was the most beautiful and prideful warrior-maiden in the world. This pairing of minds and bodies was very unusual even in Iliad city, with many wondering whether Cyrus Ascot had used sorcery higher than Gilgamesha's own epic-scale powers to charm the lady. But the marriage proved loving despite the inevitable rumors and brought William an older brother and a younger sister as well as him. All were raised in happiness and love, albeit ignorant of the world beyond Iliad City except for what they saw in books. But this idyll would not last forever, as terrorists from The Herrmannreich, the closest neighboring nation and sworn enemy of Iliad City, struck at the Ascot Family as they were celebrating William's successful entrance into Marduk Academy, where Gilgamesha was teaching. Despite the great power Gilgamesha was capable of using, the closeness of her family made sure she couldn't use her full strength without harming them. And so the terrorists, with knives and suicide vests, killed all of the family except for Gilgamesha and a heavily-injured William. Although William was fully healed, both himself and Gilgamesha were traumatized, and their reactions drove them apart - William wanted to know why the descendants of the Illuminated Poet are being purged, while Gilgamesha wanted only revenge against the world. And so when William came back to Marduk Academy, he founded the Cassandra Club, aiming to nip the feuds caused by his mother's new obsession in the bud. It didn't work, and Gilgamesha and William ended up arguing more. Eventually, Gilgamesha slapped William in anger, and in her other hand was the mystic sword, Enuma Elish. It was seeing William's frightened eyes that shocked her into seeing the enormity of what she was going to do, and drawing back her blade, Gilgamehsa, with tears, asked William to leave before she hurt him further. And with that, their connection was severed. William went to stay with his aunt, Cyrus' sister Artoria, who lived alone as a spinster. Dropping out of Marduk Academy, he devoted himself to the Cassandra Club's activities full-time, trying to find ways to unite adults and teenagers alike to finding the true foe and defeating them... Mundane Skills: Cooking, Writing, History, Fencing and Unarmed Combat, as well as a bit of Shooting/Marksmanship. Magic: William's Magic is not based on what is taught by either of the Academies but is rather his father and aunt's unique style of spellcasting. This unique type of spellcasting is Story Magic and is directly descended from the Illuminated Poet's exclusive portions of the Epic of Making.
Convenience of Coincidence - William can make a coincidence happen that benefits himself or another person, whether it is finding an expert on dragons on a quest to slay (or befriend) a dragon, causing an accident in a neighboring room to happen when he needs to sneak out of a building, or just getting a letter meant for someone else sent to him so he can learn its secrets. The cost of this ability is that it can only be used once every page of the IC, which in turn is explained away as 'when the forces of Narrative say it's convenient'. Reader of Existence - William, by touching a piece of ground, a building, or even an inanimate object, can conjure a holographic illusion of important events that happened on the ground or building or occured within range of the object. This illusion, being based on physical light and not mental effects, cannot be dispelled by the usual anti-illusion countermeasures, and keeps on 'playing' until the record of the most important/pertinent events (aka information William was looking for) have played out. Hero Calls for Aid - William can distort time, space, and probability to call on whatever allies he has made all throughout the current RP, calling them to come to his side at his time of need. The only requirement of this is that 1.) He genuinely needs help, 2.) It is the climax of a personal story arc or an arc of the RP itself. Call My Name - When his help is called for, time, space, and probability distort for William so that he can come to the aid of his friends just in the nick of time; the requirement is that 1.) they call for him specifically, and 2.) they genuinely need him. Whether he can actually help is another question entirely.

Imitation better than the Original - William can duplicate Legendary Weapons (the equivalents of Excalibur, Mjolnir, and the Spear of Destiny), by mixing metals/wood/stone with his blood. The more of his blood used in the re-creation of the item, the more powerful the duplicate is; the upper limit is the original power of the item. And no, magical healing cannot replace William's blood and thus provide a workaround around this requirement.
Personality: William deals with the hurt of losing his family through death or internal drama the best way he knows how - Project a strong and dynamic front to hide the pain inside. This gives him an apperance of overconfidence as he tries to portray himself as knowing the best at any given time, listening to advice only when he trusts the person giving it or it does not make him look stupid. When this apperance is destroyed, the main reaction is hurt, anger, and sadness, all sharpened by the fact that he has not dealt with the pain maturely... Much like his mother, a mother he wants to reconcile with greatly. Faction (Marduk, Ishtar, or Cassandra): Cassandra Club. Are you a Descendant of the Illuminated Poet?: Yes.
