Hello new friends! So, we will be discussing your introduction into the RP here in the OOC. I've been making use of our discord channel for the past few days to have some light conversation with some of you about what your characters could be, but figured this would be a better place to talk about that stuff. It might give some of you who don't have discord or aren't super into using it some inspiration if you see our discussions here in the OOC. Anyway, moving on! As I mentioned in the Interest Check, The Last Embers has been going on for a while. We started off with a prologue which was meant to be a short introductory dive into our characters, but it ended up blossoming into a full on chapter of the story comprised of several sub episodes with their own revelations that will have an impact on the story going forward. The prologue ended up being so massive that it took the better part of two years to finish. We kind of just adding more and more, which was partly my fault, but I digress. The story has now entered a point where the real actual plot of the RP will begin and it has room for new blood. Your characters are members of Warband Goliath, a group of inquisitors who've trained since childhood to act as holy soldiers of the empire of Varya. Since you were recruited, or taken, or found as children to train in the Red Seminary, you have suffered and bled together under the tutelage of Inquisitor Gregoroth, the most feared teacher in the Seminary. Gregoroth is a heralded champion of the Lanostran War and a peerless warrior. He loathes weakness and wishes to snuff it from the world. A number of your starting number did not survive his curriculum, but those of you who did are spoken of with a sort of reverence within the Seminary. As members of his warband, you excel in hand-to-hand combat above all, but are no slouches when it comes to magic either. Our existing characters, who all serve under the Warbands Phoenix and Leviathan, have had joint exercises with you throughout the years, thus we should all have a passing familarity with each other. However, the intertwined relationships and history of the warsiblings within Goliath should be well well-established before we start. One last thing, each warband aims to work together in perfect unison as a divine combat unit, and thus two of the most important roles within each warband is that of the aegisbearer and the warleader. The aegisbearer being a magically-inclined inquisitor who upholds the aegis, a powerful ethereal barrier that protects against the life-sapping cold of the frontier as well as both magical and physical attacks. The warleader is a talented inquisitor within the warband who has been elected by their companions to serve as the leader of the group. The warleader comes up with combat strategy, looks to the well-being of his warsiblings above all and most importantly, acts as an honored representative of the warband. The warleader can replaced if their companions feel they are not living up to their responsibilities. Hopefully that bit of info will start giving you some ideas about your characters. There is a wealth of info in the OOC and Character page to inform your creations, but as always, if you're unsure or need clarification on anything, let us know!
