That is the city he currently calls home. Status or Nobility?: Commoner status. Though he does work for the Sanctum with the priests. He does not lead religious services of any kind, he merely tidies up the place and takes odd jobs around the city. Knack for magic or fighting prowess: He has received minimal training from a few close friends who went on to become knights for the King. Though those friends quickly moved on when duty called. The training he received was when he was quite young so he has not had any chance to hone his swordsmanship. He is blessed with hidden potential and has plenty of room to grow. Personality: In the past the main thing driving the young Inais was to make a name for himself. He used to be rather quiet and reserved but through working with the priests and worshipers of the Sanctum in the Holy Kingdom he has broken out of that shell and became quite the talker. He idolizes knights and the King of the Holy Kingdom and plans to travel the world in safe travels hoping to let the land of Ruyunae know his name. Though most of his aspirations changed when he got a bit older. He is kept under strict watch by the priests of the Sanctum and this has caused him to grow slightly angry with the Sanctum. Those that speak with Inais will tell you that he is a friendly face and eager to talk your ear off. That may be a fault given how he can be a bit gullible even for his somewhat matured age. Brief Background: Inais has lived in the Holy Kingdom for as long as he can remember. He has worked with the Priests of the Sanctum in the Holy Kingdom since he was a boy and life was much more simple back then. He would help out with whatever needed doing and as he matured he sort of took charge of maintenance of the Sanctum. They were small odd jobs as he was certainly no carpenter and had no knack for magic at the time. Then things changed drastically when he matured even more. Now an adult the rules for him in the Sanctum changed like night to day. He is not allowed to have his own place in the city and the Sanctum claimed ownership of his name, basically adopting him and under the High Priest's decree he was to remain in the Sanctum. But that is no way to live. He was still permitted to leave but only for very quick shopping runs or close errands and he had a priest to go with him at all times. Back in the Sanctum the young man would stay up late in the pondering why things had changed so much. Had he done something? It was around this time he started to have a series of visions. Visions of strange things he did not recognize. A burning sensation would overcome his body at random points during the day and anytime this happened he was quickly sent to the Sanctum's Infirmary and kept under close watch. The feelings usually subsided quickly but again, he was not permitted to leave. He lost friends and soon became adjusted to this new lifestyle. Even though he was basically kept under house arrest he still managed to develop some life skills. He became very close with many of the priests that worked in the Sanctum and he managed to keep his episodes suppressed to a degree. The healing magic given to him by the various priests worked wonders when he needed it and he was given an ample supply of books to quell the time he spent confined in the walls of the Sanctum. Still, as he wandered the grounds he grew more and more curious. He could not believe as a child to young adult he never noticed the underground chamber he would sometimes catch the High Priest working his way into. What was down there? What was it for and why did the Sanctum have such a chamber? One day, after the sun had set and it was late into the night, Inais’s curiosity got the best of him and he left his room from the inner workings of the Sanctum and made his way to the entrance of the underground chamber he had seen the High Priest use several times. But the door would not budge. After trying to open the door a few times he felt a sense of dread wash over him. Something down there was… calling to him. But it did not feel right. He quickly stole himself away from the door and collided with none other than the High Priest himself. He was quite angry and Inais received a harsh punishment to follow. Weeks passed now and Inais never set a foot back towards that chamber door. He was still quite curious but whatever was down there felt like something he had never felt before. Around the time he reached proper adulthood the burning sensations on his right side picked up even more. They were stronger than ever and in one instance the pain from the burning was so great the young man passed out. When he woke, he had strange rune like symbols all along his right arm. Stretching all the way down to his fingertips as well as well as up to the peak of his shoulder. He asked the High Priest what this was… what did it mean. The High Priest simply told him it was a “Blessing”. But his strange mannerisms and way of speaking filled Inais with unease. It was a strange scenario after all. Things changed in the Sanctum after that. It was much quieter around the once lively place. The High Priest would randomly close the doors to the Sanctum. Inais was still not permitted to leave and his duties around the Sanctum shifted again. The visions began again but this time he did not say anything. The High Priest seemed aware somehow and berated the young man with questions and angry words but Inais stood his ground. He played the fool. Weeks later some of the priests spoke to Inais about preparations for the Festival of the Lights. He was overjoyed at the thought of being able to leave the Sanctum. Could he even sneak away perhaps? Did he need to? He needed to get out and see the world… The High Priest approved and gave him instructions for the day of the festival and what he would be doing. It would seem he would be helping with lighting the four holy braziers when the King motioned for them to along with the other priests.
