Marisol is the daughter of Jose Castillo and Maria Guzman, owners of one of the biggest exporters of oil in South America.  As an heiress of the Castillo-Guzman oil company, Marisol has very little to worry about. She grew up in a very privileged life. She studied abroad in France and later on went on to college at Oxford University where she studied Fine Art and Computer Science. 

She was the only daughter and because of it, she was spoiled just a bit. Just enough to make her want everything but not enough to think she could get everything. Her parents made her work for everything she wanted. While her parents were in charge of a large company they never left Marisol alone with a nanny or a babysitter. She was always brought along to the many meetings, trips, and interviews. She practically grew up in the business until she was sent off to Europe to study.

Her time away from her home in Mexico was a pretty chill one. Marisol's family business wasn't known across the sea so she had the opportunity to just be whatever she wanted. She had a circle of friends throughout her school life, most of them unaware of her background. She kept it hidden mostly because she didn't want to deal with her friends freaking out and treating her differently. 

After returning from England Marisol spent her time in Mexico just lounging around, painting and doing whatever she wanted. It wasn't until she had just turned 24 when she realized she could just pack up and travel around. So one day, on a whim, she bought a van, had it converted, and began to drive around Mexico followed by California, Nevada, and soon she found herself in Florida.

After reading about Santa Clara, Marisol made her way down to the town and has stayed there for a while. She moved out of her van just a month after staying there. Of course, she stills has her van in case she gets the urge to leave again.
