[@Killbox], I know things didn't go your way, but that's no reason to give up. Bounce back, play it off. RP, especially with other people, is all about 'Yes, and'. Something unexpected happens, go with it. 

Personally, the best part about a story is character growth. Use this as a way to shape you character so he can him grow.

Edit: My favorite characters are ones that something unexpected or bad happened, and I had to play the character around it. But when I did, I thought 'Wow, this is way better.'
