Just as before, once the mysterious "king's" order was completed, the dumbwaiter made it's slow trek back to the upper levels of the manse. If there was someone controlling the mechanism, they paid no attention to the players' discussion. After a short while, the waiter would no doubt return with another card of instructions.
The key Orwell held did indeed fit the door's lock, and with a little bit of a push the old wood gave way and opened up to a dark room. There was a noticeable draft coming from inside - cracks in the glass of the room's windows, though they were blocked similar to the ones in the foyer. Despite whatever the players had been expecting, once the light switch was pushed and the dim bulbs overhead flickered to life, the room was revealed to be a kitchen of some sort. The kitchen-like area took up one side of the room, while the other seemed to have been intended as a dining area. In the kitchen there was a large rusted sink, filled with a pungent liquid that couldn't even be mistaken for water. Most players might recognize the smell as similar to gasoline. Even if the sink's handles were pulled, no water came through. Beside the sink were several counters and cabinets, though all were empty. In the nearby drawers there were sharpened silverware sets - spoons, forks and knives. A large, heavy refrigerator stood against the wall, and surprisingly there was something inside. A slice of white cake with red filling. A joke, or perhaps a trap? On the dining side was a table with several chairs. Upon the table were papers, that upon closer inspection seemed to be bills and receipts. Some real, perhaps some falsified. The payer and payee were mostly obscured. To torment the players, or sew suspicion? A veterinary bill, routine fixes to a funeral home, a clinic visit for a boy named Cruz, an online order of heavy-duty cleaning supplies, a college's tuition bill. There were two receipts that weren't records of payment but instead of payments received, and these names were clearly stated while the actual contents were blacked out: to one Somi Baek, several hundred dollars. To one Velskaya Inc., several hundred thousand and the acquisition of land. Besides these things, there was nothing else to be found in the room. No water or first aid supplies, nor a way out.
The squeal of the dumbwaiter's return could be heard from within any of the rooms on the first floor. Inside, of course, was another order. This time there was no item to accompany it, just the single menacing card. [pre]King's Order Player #3, rip out all of Player #4's eyelashes.
