[indent]Adam moved from Chihuahua, Mexico, to El Paso, Texas, after his mother accepted a job there. His father raised Adam and his three younger siblings on a mid-sized ranch. They lived a peaceful life for several years, until Adam was thirteen. Adam and his youngest brother, Samuel, were attacked by a deranged werewolf. Samuel died, and Adam turned very shortly afterwards.
Adam is terrified of his wolf manifestation. His refusal to transform lasted six years, at which point he slowly began using the speed and endurance it granted him. He tracks well enough, and his agility stems from experience with herding cattle.[/indent]

Three of these run parallel to each other: from her left ear, through her birthmark, across her mangled lip, and just past the center of her face. While she embraces the scars that line her body, she prefers to cover the lower half of her face with an elaborate metal mask that bears a contorted grin. Her birthmark, which is hidden by the mask, glows orange when she uses plasma magic, giving the abnormally wide smile a demonic edge. Max usually wears practical clothes and thick steel-toe boots, but she will don an oversized bomber jacket over fitted black in a semblance of formal wear.[/indent]

[indent]Max is honest to the point of bluntness. She can be insensitive because she mostly lacks empathy, and she is fond of “affectionately” calling people rude names. She is suspicious of strangers but fiercely protective of those she holds dear. Rules chafe her, and, while she doesn’t outright break them (usually), she definitely bends them to accommodate her whims. She encourages independent thinking, and she is more than tolerant of any form of self-expression, especially from children. [/indent]

Manipulating at such high temperatures is incredibly draining, and she can only sustain the heat for one or two minutes. [indent]Even before Max was born, the Jian name was known for incredible workmanship. Her mother and father founded a detailing shop just before Max’s brother, Fai, was born. Tall tales of a burning child forced to fight all manner of beasts prefaced the death of her father, who died in a freak fire. Marena, her mother, whisked Max and Fai off to America, where they rebuilt their lives.
Max started working at her mother’s shop from an early age, but her brother had a greater interest in the human world, so he worked at a local clothing store. When Max was fourteen, Fai was shot and killed by a human at the store. Max hunted down and killed the human, taking the flintlock that had killed Fai.
From that point on, Max threw herself into her magic. She had a particular fascination with testing the heat limits that she could manipulate, and she spent hundreds of years pushing the thermometer higher. Finally, she had a breakthrough: plasma. Although the process drains her incredibly quickly, she has taught herself to wield this volatile substance until she could maintain control for a minute or two. Her mother’s delicate magic has also permeated Max’s, and she has a high level of expertise in creating minute details. This skill has brought several influential faces through the shop doors of "Revival" in search of finery.[/indent]

[indent]Leila was born in South Africa in the early 1400’s to the Khaiǁkhaun clan of the Nama group of the Khoikhoi people. Humans and non-humans intermingled freely within her community, so she had a relatively peaceful childhood. She discovered her passion for plants in her early “teens,” and she experimented (to the best of her ability) with differing water and sunlight levels. In about 1460, she traveled with a handful of other non-humans up through the African continent to Europe. From there, they went to the newly discovered Americas, where they began to create a new life in Boston.
In 1643, Leila traveled back to her home, where she encountered the Huguenots that would settle in the Cape of Good Hope. She befriended a couple: Jacques Pinard and Marthe le Fèbre. Through them, she learned French and Dutch, and she became fascinated with learning languages. Leila went back to Boston in 1689 with three of the younger generation of the colony: Marion Levere and Anne and Claude Guyot. She helped them set up a life in a small town a bit away from the city. Claude and Marion wanted to start a family somewhere quiet, and Salem was beautiful in the fall. She returned to the other vampires with whom she had first come, and they invested in a textile company.
Leila returned to Salem in 1691, but tensions between humans and non-humans had been escalating rapidly, and Marion warned Leila to stay away for her own safety. Not even a year later, the Salem Witch Trials began, and Marion was tried and killed at the recommendation of Anne. Claude took their two-year-old daughter, Sophie, and fled to Boston. Leila helped them relocate down to Santa Fe, Florida, and she herself left for New Amsterdam, which would eventually be recreated into New York. Leila has changed her identity several times since then, but she has remained in the area to the present.[/indent]
