"You are wrong on quite a few things."
He narrowed his eyes. 
"Those family members  wanted nothing to do with Emilys' mother. She has family in town, but on her fathers' side. She was not looking after him, they are friends. She is always there to support him. She did not tell me about any fights, as she did not know of any herself. Besides, any classmate of hers would have known the stuff you are saying. And not necessarily friends either." 
He was basically not fooled at all. He could always sense when someone was trying to get close to him for selfish reasons.
