Jak was sleeping, until a bird woke him up. Through some chirps, the bird communicates to Jak that there is a small group of people camping in the forest. Jak then leaps to his feet, grabs his weapons and starts following the bird toward the goblin campsite. Upon arrival, Jak sees there are 4 goblins. Jak sneakily kills 3 of the 4 goblins before non-lethally subduing his last opponent. He then ties up the surviving goblin and waits for him to wake up. When the goblin wakes, he tries to move, only to notice he has been tied to a tree. Jak notices this and walks over to him. "What does this say? I can't read." Jak demands while showing the goblin a letter he found while going through the goblins' stuff. The goblin remains silent. "What species are you? Where did you come from?" Jak continues to ask questions, and yet the goblin still remains silent. Jak sighs as he stands up, walks across the camp and comes back holding a small brightly-coloured spider in his hand. Jak places the spider on the goblins face. The goblin tries to shake it off, but can't move enough. The spider then bites the goblins face, injecting spider venom. Jak then repeats his questions. The goblin tries to remain stoic, before he starts begging for an antidote. Jak says he'll give him the antidote after he answers his question. The goblin tells Jak that the note outlines the goblins' orders to scout the area surrounding the nearby castle. The goblin manages to reveal the name of his species but dies before he can get another word out. Jak makes a mental note to use a less venomous spider next time before starting his journey toward the castle the goblin spoke of.
