	In a time of isolation, much of the world is left wondering why. Those on the Island Nation of Japan know it isn't for the reasons said. Publicly the nation is calm, at peace, without war. The nation if prospering and does not want interference or to be tainted by western culture. Isolation is to keep their people safe, without influence, or even illness from other suffering nations only wishing a piece of what the Pearl Of The Orient can provide. If only that were the truth, if only the land of the rising sun were as calm and prosperous as they claimed to be. Their shores may be off limits but it only to protect others while they try to save themselves. 

	Military rule is law and it must be for these are dark times. Daimyō and Samurai rule these lands, fighting not one another but more supernatural forces. Demons, wild and savage, beings are constantly causing havoc both in the larger cities and along the country side. And when the demons are out to play, so shall they draw out the evil in many. Bandits are coming together and clans are forming, rushing villages to burn and plunder and leave death in their wake. No social class is safe and the higher you are the further you have to fall. You can fight, you can flee. Either way you must survive to see another day. 

	Kikuya grew up in a small farming village outside of Edo. It wasn't a grand life but it was pleasant and happy. Her parents were kind and loving, teaching their daughter well. While she did not marry rich, she married contently. Everything seemed like it would be fine. Farm and family in peace. Yet her husband was called a way to war, her village was attacked. Only herself and a few other survived, quickly going to Edo for safety. Rejected by city their village had fed, one does what she must. Just survive until he returns. Yet there was no return, the entire regiment was slaughtered in the north. When one is left to turn to or survive for one must look inwardly. Survival is more important than honor and the young farm girl must learn how to defend herself in more ways than one.
