The impression he gives in one of reliability rather than friendliness however, there is little warmth to him beyond what someone expects out of courtesy; he is not cold, but rather reserved, keeping his emotions in check and under control. Those who know him better, like his co-workers and occasionally those who earn his ire, see a different side of him. Beyond his professionalism he can be ruthless and lacking in mercy on occasion; such traits allow him to thrive as a businessman, but there are sometimes casualties to the way he conducts his business. He is also cunning and devious at times, though he hides it well, and while he makes himself appear to be someone who can be trusted it is sometimes a grave mistake to do so. Desire: To live Class: Cursed Grimoire Effigy Emblem: A large, leather bound tome with an elaborate ritual circle on the front cover. This Emblem, to put it as simply as possible, grants Thomas control over Life itself. Life force, energy, souls; whatever you want to call it, Thomas is now able to drain the Life of living beings, store it inside the Emblem and then utilise it in various ways. The simplest use for this power is healing; Thomas will automatically heal from any injury short of death itself, so long as he has enough reserves of Life to do so, or heal others if he so choices. Another common usage is to give life back to those who have lost it, raising them as thralls under his command. In other words, he is a Necromancer. The limits of what this grimoire is capable of have not been explored; there is much more Thomas could achieve as he uncovers the secrets of his Emblem. The greatest limitation placed on him is the fact that his new found powers require a resource to work in the form of Life, meaning he always has a finite amount of power available to him that he needs to constantly replenish. Bio: Thomas is the only child of an upper middle class family living I Chicago, someone who never wanted for much in life and who was afforded privileges that others were denied due to his family’s financial situation. A good education was chief among these, with Thomas attending and graduating from a business school at a prestigious university in part due to his father’s connections alongside his own hard work and talent. It was also due to his father’s connections that Thomas was able to begin employment at a respected finance company in the city, his name earning him a foot in the door which he then kicked wide open with his own intelligence and talent. He worked for this company for several years, making a name for himself as he acquired enough money, clients and connections to eventually start his own firm in Corner City. All in all things were going well for Thomas, or at least they were until he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. A few years after starting his new company and growing it into a thriving financial company with an office in the heart of Corner City, Thomas was undergoing his yearly check-up with his doctor when he was given the news; his doctor informed him that he had a rare form of cancer, one that, even though they had caught it early, was known to be particularly aggressive and had no known cure. He was given only a few years to live at most. In a single moment the life Thomas had constructed fell apart around him. His body had betrayed him, his health set to decline inexorably towards an unavoidable death and there was nothing he could do to stop it. His only options were to wait it out or end things on his own terms and neither of those appealed to him. He would do anything to reverse that moment, to take back control of his life. He desired to live and that desire brought the Baron to his door. His motives and his plans are his own and his loyalty belongs only to himself, he masks his true intentions behind an enigmatic smile and obscures the meaning of his words in riddles and vague statements.
