Marin frowns and sighs. "I was afraid of that," she admits. "I... I don't really remember my childhood, per se. I'm not even completely sure how my kind is conceived. We just kind of... happen. I was born with a humanoid appearance, so I was left in a human village with no memories of parents, a former home, nothing. I actually thought I was human until I got scared in a childhood game of some ball game and I distinctly remember turning into a bear to dodge it, my attempt at bravery incarnate. The story was twisted by witnesses to say that I meant to attack, and I was treated as a witch ever since. I wasn't exactly a child though. My kind ages differently than humans do... so I'd say maybe an early pubescent."
