I decided to write up something of a CS for the character that will be accompanying the group headed for the Paleblood Hunters, since it's possible that other characters from the Healing Church might at least know of him.
Name: Victor Race: Hunter Faction: White Healing Church Age: Mid-forties Appearance: A large and and heavily scarred man, Victor has long facial hair arranged into three 15 cm (6”) braids – one braid for either side of his mustache and one for the hair on his chin – but wears the hair on his head short and smoothed backwards so that it is easily hidden by the hood of his uniform. His hair is chestnut brown and his eyes are dark blue, though the color can be hard to determine due to his eyes being quite deep-set, casting them in shade from his brow most of the time. He has a broad, forward-jutting jaw and shallow cheekbones, both of which, along with his forehead and cheeks, are bear scars from old cuts and burns. Height: 1.9 meters (6' 3”) Weight: 102 kg (225 lb) Clothes: Wears the garb of the white church. A 7.6 centimeter (3 inches) hole has been cut through the front and back of the garb, each hole surrounded by a large, dark bloodstain. The right shoulder has a long, blood-soaked tear. Hunter gear: Wields a Ludwig's Holy Blade and a Hunter's blunderbuss, and used to carry a hand lantern on his person. The lantern has since been destroyed. Currently has four blood vial and thirteen quicksilver bullets. Biography: Victor was originally a mercenary from the lands east of Yharnam, running with a band of generally unremarkable professional soldiers doing whatever jobs the various wealthy patrons in the lands would pay them for. This mostly included reinforcing native forces, hunting highwaymen and occasionally robbing transports, all for reasons that probably mattered to their employers, but which Victor and the band did not care about beyond the fact that they were being rewarded. Out of all of the band Victor was neither the strongest, smartest or the most skilled at fighting, but he stood out nonetheless and had a minor reputation as a suicidal brute and a mean drunk. Wearing the ancestral armor of his family – a full suit of plate armor – Victor made a habit of charging headlong into combat, disregarding danger and defense in favor for a fully offensive fighting style, heavily reliant on raw strength that let him cleave through opponents with his longsword. Though most people, his own band included, regarded him as a crazy fool, most were reluctantly in awe at his sheer ability to withstand pain and ignoring wounds, as he had emerged from battle many times with broken bones and serious lacerations, yet he never seemed to let his injuries slow him down until after the fighting was done. Though Victor was happy enough to continue his life like this, simply earning enough to keep himself looking what he thought was “sophisticated” and to keep a steady supply of drinkable spirits, things changed about six months after the Night of the Blood Moon. With the destruction wrought in Yharnam, its diminished population and badly weakened ability to deal with its native plagues, surrounding lands started suffering from beasts spreading from the city of blood, and the native lords were having great difficulty dealing with this threat on their own. Word got out that one lord in particular was offering an impressive amount of money for the head of a certain scourge beast, and the leader of Victor's band was quick to chase this bounty. But though most of the mercenaries were battle-hardened and confident in their ability to deal with “one measly beast”, it turned out that they all severely underestimated their quarry. Finding the scourge beast proved simple enough, but it soon became apparent just how dangerous such a monster was to ordinary humans. Half of the band, including their leader, was killed in an initial assault on the beast, and Victor discovered just how little armor mattered to the ferocity of such a creature. Victor ended up badly wounded, with major damage to his spine, and had to be dragged from the battlefield by his comrades. The band decided to pursue the beast despite their initial failure, however, citing that they had the advantage now, while it was wounded, proving their ignorance of the immense regenerative powers of beasts. They chased the lupine creature close to Yharnam itself, where they found that the lands were crawling with monsters the like of which they had never seen before. Nearly the entire band was killed just trying to escape the wilderness surrounding Yharnam with their lives intact, eventually landing them in Yharnam itself. Here they were approached by the Healing Church, which offered to heal their wounds with miraculous blood healing. All of the survivors gladly paid to recover from their injuries, becoming proper Yharnamites, but Victor was far too gone to be saved with regular blood healing. His wounds had gotten infected, and even if the healing cured this, the damage to his spine meant that he would never walk again. The church offered Victor a different treatment: one that would mend all of the damage done to him... and all it would cost him was service to the church. So naturally he agreed. Now a Hunter, Victor continues to fight recklessly and aggressively, while also finding great pleasure in the implied elegance of the White Healing Church. He remains mostly unremarkable, even as a Hunter, though it has been noted that he possesses higher capacity for regeneration than most. Any favor he could gain through this innate ability has been lost, however, as his proclivity for alcohol has now turned to blood, and he has been disciplined several times for overindulgence.
