Alex's main power comes from being an illusionist. Sounds, visual trickery, and otherwise sensory dishonesty is how Alex made somewhat of a name for himself. Family/Clan within the kingdom: The Black Family is nothing super special. His father and mother were basic artisans. Because of them, Alex is fairly good with his hands. Biography: Alex was born to a pair of middle class artisan parents. His mother was a blacksmith, and his father was a Carpenter, who owned a small shop called the Dragon's Den. His childhood was fairly normal, he was taught by his parents about their trade, and what they knew about the world. They did their best to teach him, and sent him to school when they had the money. In his early and teenage years, Alex mainly helped around the shop. Organizing supplies, bringing tools to his parents, watching and learning, and making deliveries. Life was simple, and all three were happy. Things had been mostly the same for about nineteen years of his life, and if things had continued, he likely would've been a Carpenter much like his father, had a kid, get old and die, but fate had something else in store for Alex. An old man and magic user, whom Alex later learned is named Donovan, had stopped by one day with a broken wagon wheel. Alex had done this kind of thing before, and had the wheel fixed in no time at all. Donovan, somewhat fond of the youthful spirit of Alex, offered him a chance to learn basic magic, as a form of thank-you, along with paying for the wheel, of course. Alex... wasn't exactly the smartest. And wasn't terribly proficient in many forms of magic. He could create small firebolts, rays of frost, or blow wind, but that was about it. That is, until, they moved on to basic Illusions. Making still images and creating sounds. Alex seemingly had a knack for this type of magic, and had successfully mastered these spells very quickly. Donovan picked up on this and began to focus almost entirely on Illusion spells. Over the next five years, Alex and Donovan grew close, and he became a family friend. Alex mastered every Illusion spell Donovan could throw at him, but Donovan knew Illusion magic wouldn't be enough. Alex himself didn't exactly seem like a fighter, so Donovan decided Summoning would probably be a good idea. Alex wasn't even in the same ballpark of skill when it came to summoning. Time after time, he struggled with the spells, but was eventually able to become adept at low powered spells. Unfortunately, as of late, Donovan has fallen ill, like many others, so Alex was left to his own devices, and studied on his own. The rest, as we say, is history. Other: Alex has some experience in carpentry and blacksmithing, but is by no means an expert. Alex is currently trying to master the newest and most powerful spell: Phantasmal Killer. Phantasmal Killer creates a thick black smokescreen that projects a monstrous version of the worst fear of whoever peers inside. The fear one feels from this spell is enough to cause most to lock up, flee, or even faint at the sight of it. Alex has a way to go before he can even begin to start to manifest its effects.
