My guy's one of the "cool kids" who skateboards and does cool kid things. But he's also black and takes all the crap that [I]that[/I] entails.

He skips classes, hangs out at ice cream parlours, probably owns a switchblade, actually knows how to use his baseball bat. Likes to wear his high school varsity jacket as a symbol of his rebellion against the system.

I'm thinking his tragic backstory should be that he had a sibling who was gunned down by accident as accidental collateral damage in a gang related shooting.
