The thought of remedying her sickly white appearance with makeup has crossed her mind on a few occasions, but she seldom roams in the sun anyway. She doesn’t own an enchanted artifact that allows her to do so, and it’s never been a priority for Ava to get one. It’s perhaps also a symptom of her unlikable personality, that no witch has offered to make one for her. Ava’s hair is naturally a light blonde, but it was bleached to an even lighter tone, back when Ava was still human. The long strands of hair reach past her shoulder blades, in soft curls. Ava’s physique had always been slim, and well-proportioned for her height of 5'5".
Personality Traits
The first trait people will notice about Ava is the permanent scowl on her face. There might have been a time when Ava smiled more, but the last few years of her life as a turned vampire has weighed heavily on her. She approaches the world with an air of discontent, often coming off as rude. On a surface level, Ava is confident, and wears a devil-may-care type of attitude, but underneath lies deeply rooted guilt and resentment for her situation. Her extremely prideful nature is likely the reason for her confrontational behaviour - she hides her emotions underneath a mask of strength. Ava’s outbursts are sometimes communicated as acts of violence as well - she doesn’t always harm people, but has a knack for throwing objects around and breaking them. Before her untimely ‘death’, Ava was bright, cheerful, and extremely ambitious. She was straight-forward in her speech, and stopped at nothing to get what she wanted. The term, ‘work hard, play hard’ embodied who she was. Since turning into a vampire, the ‘work hard’ aspect of her character was whisked away along with her humanity. There are, however, moments when she regains a small part of her former self, usually when inebriated. It seems that only after a few drinks can Ava forget the fact that she’s a vampire.
Skills
Ava is capable of speaking a little bit of French. Her grandfather was from France, thus the surname, Marseille. She isn’t too athletic but she’s rather flexible, thanks to ballet classes she took from a young age. Ava’s surprisingly business savvy as well, a skill developed back when she wanted to start her own business.
Weaknesses
Ava has many more vices than virtues. She’s a hopeless alcoholic (or blood-holic?), and has behaviour issues to boot. Many would consider her short-tempered and confrontational. When sober, she’s emotionally volatile at best. It’s not too hard to manipulate Ava either. She wears her weaknesses on her sleeve, really. It’s easy to use her addiction or emotions against her.
History
Ava’s upbringing was very normal - she was human after all. Her family was ridiculously mundane - mom and dad, no siblings, a pet dog named Donut. As a teenager, Ava wasn’t particularly rebellious. She had a circle of friends, snuck out of the house a few times for parties, went to prom - typical milestones for the modern teen. In school, Ava tried hard to meet expectations she and her parents had for herself, and made efforts to succeed. She eventually went on to attend a good college, and laid foundations to start her own business during her undergrad. When Ava was ‘turned’, her life was flipped upside down. It happened at a bar one night, after one too many drinks. Everything happened so fast. Before she could react or fight back, Ava found herself growing cold and numb in the backseat of a vampire’s car. The reality of death was sobering in that instant. Her screams for help were muffled as her body weakened. Tears streamed down blue-toned cheeks. Perhaps the vampire took pity on her, but for whatever reason, he didn’t kill her. Dying would’ve been better, in Ava’s opinion. A few months later, Ava had dropped out of school. Attending class was difficult for someone who couldn’t step into the sunlight. She ran away from her friends and family. A never-ending fear lurked at the back of her head that she could hurt them someday. Ava hated her new life. Her aspirations for the future broke into irreparable shards. She hated the ravenous thirst for blood that consumed her every thought. She hated the guilt and disgust she felt every time she had to hurt someone to feed. And most of all, she hated the creatures that did this to her. For the past several years, Ava spent her time hopping from one city to the next. She ventured out at night and preyed on the blood of party-goers to get as drunk as possible. Then, her restless mind could be silenced by nightlife’s roar of crowds and music. Afterwards, she would sleep around dawn, rinse and repeat.
Ava's life was very normal, until she was turned during her college years. The dreams and aspirations for the future she used to have were frozen in time, forever staying as dreams and what-ifs. Her life now is ruled by her resentment towards herself and her own kind, and spends her nights drinking to take her mind off reality.

Misc.
Artist: WonJo Jung | #C5D1FB Ava knows a little about the Black Iris Society from what she’s been told by others. She understands there’s a hierarchy and some bullshit list of rules, but that’s it.
