Alderman's repeated story lined up with what he had been told, but Eris had to admit he had a small touch of suspicion on why he had been around the back of the ballroom, especially with Drunken McGee over there having stumbled upon him earlier. He'd get a proper answer later, but he supposed that he was still simmering about the guard's sudden turn. How the hell was he supposed to take him seriously when he had already proved how utterly incompetent he was?

For the moment, he decided to play along with the guard's investigation.
