This molt, when fed quicksilver bullets, apparently has the power to create a temporarily inexhaustible flame that sticks to whatever it touches. The flame appears where the snake's mouth would have been, and is primarily useful for coating a weapon. The magic sustaining the flame lasts for about one minute.
[b]Biography:[/B] Having first become a Hunter just a few weeks before the start of the story, Gerlinde is the only known Paleblood Hunter to maintain her connection to the Hunter's Dream aside from the Moonborn, and as such holds a special place in the Yharnam community. Various factions have vied for her allegiance, but although she was initially considered an ally of the Healing Church, she has since refused to adopt their hostility towards the Vilebloods and distanced herself from their organization.
Though she has upheld her duties and satisfied her cravings as a Hunter since her transformation and slain a number of beasts, Gerlinde's primary interest seems to be research into the nightmares, where she is known to spend most of her time. Her search for things connected to nightmares has landed her in a conflict with the Followers, however, who consider her research to be heretical and who has repeatedly demanded that she hands over her arcane snake molt to them; a hostility that has seen several Followers killed by Gerlinde, and Gerlinde slain many times by the Followers.
Aside from the find of the snake molt, however, Gerlinde has been quite unremarkable for a Paleblood Hunter, and her feats in hunting and fighting are generally considered to be unimpressive.[/HIDER]
