[indent][color=a2d39c]Sage is a bit of a recluse. When at school she is extremely introverted and rarely initiates conversation with other people. Cautious and extremely guarded, it takes her a while to be able to trust others and let them into her heart. The only beings that she feels comfortable around are animals like her black cat Bageera, her adoptive parents, and the few friends she is able to make. On occasion, she does seem to take on a very different personality. She can be very goofy. Making silly faces, singing off-key, sometimes she even ballroom dances with her cat, but only when she is by herself at home or helping out in the bookstore. [/color][/indent]

[indent][color=7bcdc8]Sage's mother (Honor) became pregnant at the young age of 16. With her parents having been strict in religious and societal views, Honor was basically forced to have her child in secret and give her up for adoption. Their small town was located in Millersburg Ohio. Also known as Amish Country. It was obvious that that town would not look too kindly on teenage pregnancy. After having Sage, Honor's parents swaddled her in a blanket and traveled almost two hours to an orphanage located in Columbus Ohio. There they dropped her off with no information as to who her biological family was.

At four years old Sage was taken into a foster family with three other children. The foster couple had been extremely kind to which Sage assumed made her one of the lucky few. Nigel was a literary professor who had studied and lived in Liverpool. After marrying he moved to America to be with his wife Shakti. Shakti started her own business at a metaphysical bookstore. There they served and sold tea, tarot cards, palm readings, etc. Instead of having their own children the couple decided to take in orphans who did not have homes. 
One of the reasons Sage is so awkward around others is possibly due to her upbringing. While her foster parents were amazing, there were some kids who were the exact opposite. Any relationships she did make were short-lived since she seemed to be the only one who did not get adopted. A fact that she didn't mind... in a way she enjoyed living with Nigel and Shakti so much that any possible parents she had she subconsciously turned away. After spending over a decade at the Whittakers house, Nigel had surprised her with a very special Christmas present. In the gift bag was her Certificate of Adoption in its gilded frame. The present is currently hanging just above her headboard in her room.  

At 16 years old Sage took on a part-time job in Shakti's store. She was one of the baristas who served their well-known organic tea. When she was not working she was usually creating various artworks to sell on Etsy. Occasionally she would also give free tarot readings and live performances in the cafe. A total free-spirit, she just wants to make others happy and establish connections. At school it is different... She feels like she has to wear a mask around those her own age. Early on in life, she noticed that a lot of people outside of her community didn't share similar views and frequently condemned her for it. In order to save herself from personal attacks, she tends to stay in her own little world. [/color][/indent]
