I intend for my miner character to be from the city. But I feel that some form of industry is vital to the town, ie. having a blacksmith, but it doesn't make sense for my character from the city to know smithing. Makes sense to me! Maybe they can be someone who built the lumberyard equipment and later helped Freddy bring the lawsuit against BigCo. It's not out of the question to say this smith is an old family friend, and that Ferris has been in the mine a few times himself.

Maybe the smith used to ask Ferris to gather ore before the Rot showed up and before Freddy vanished, but the town's been having trouble getting the metal it needs since Ferris runs his dad's old business now.
