He didn’t really see the point in bringing it up though; putting Aeryn to rest and maybe, if he was very lucky, getting to see Aklenroth suffer were more important to him than whatever would come after that. Much to his own annoyance his disdain for this ball seemed to be equally matched by Torvi’s excitement for it. He resisted the urge to push against her plan to seek allies at the ball, it was better to let his new companion find whatever joy she could in this world. Bowyn starred at Torvi’s hand as she gave his own hand a reassuring squeeze. The friendly and comforting gesture made him uncomfortable; he did not want to make another friend, because all his friends ended up dead and it was best not to test how long that streak would last. He was relieved when Torvi released his hand, and her words assured him enough that she too felt the weight of what they were up against. His morose mood dissipated when she offered to buy more drinks with newly swiped amas. Bowyn grinned with pride at the revelation that Torvi had even managed to pick pockets without him noticing. “Then we shall drink to the generosity of strangers.” He said laughing a bit as she went to get another round of drinks. “You are a bad influence on the human.” Boreas informed him, his tone more of an observation than a judgement. “A quicker study than I thought. Maybe a night at a ball will not end in missing limbs.” Bowyn answered. “If attending a ball means you’ll be bathing soon then I’m all for it.” Boreas said goading the fairy back into a snarkier and more pleasant mood.
