The countess shifted her glance sideways as the music and her conversation was cut short, a voice explaining something about the smoke detection system having been damaged. The announcement was quickly followed by a request for all in attendance to leave the premise immediately; one that was met with many grumbles of disappointment yet ultimately followed.

“[color=d42cf9]Oh, that’s too bad. I wonder if…[/color]” Dennis’ words barely reached the countess as she accepted the boy’s offered hand and stood from her chair. Something didn’t feel quite right to her, but she couldn’t put her finger on it until the mage spoke once more. Her irises took on a much colder hue as she narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

“[color=f49ac2]Somehow I doubt that.[/color]” She responded, taking a quick look around the pair before softly pulling Dennis out of the way of the shuffling crowds.

“[color=f49ac2]The man is all about his image, one that would surely be harmed if it ever got out he was arrested for destruction of [i]royal[/i] property. Ignoring that, Astorio’s aren’t exactly known for their patience. A mage in their charge, even a new one, would know better than to get wrapped up in something like this under penalty of punishment.[/color]” Involved parties aside, Dennis could already hear sirens. If Eris and company were already being escorted away, what use were the sirens for a damaged smoke alarm… surely the system could be repaired or at least the situation monitored by the mages on staff with the school?

“[color=f49ac2]Perhaps I’m being paranoid, but I don’t like the way this sounds. Let’s move for now, and I apologize for asking this of you, but can you keep an eye on the situation? I don’t think we’re being told everything.[/color]”
