For the most part, Nathalie has an easygoing and carefree personality. She doesn't sweat the little things and can remain calm under certain situations whereas other people may not do as well. Not being a chatterbox means Nathalie does a lot of listening, and she's really good at it. Others have often come to her to vent because they know that she's an active listener, and she'll further engage in the conversation and show concern towards the other person in order to reach a pleasant conclusion.

In addition, Nathalie is not too big into the clubbing scene. She doesn't mind going dancing every once in a while, but she's also fine for settling in for the night underneath a comfortable blanket in front of the TV. Whenever she drinks, which is more often than not a glass or two of wine, she'll let loose a bit more and her inhibitions are lowered, usually resulting in a few dirty jokes.

Nathalie was born and raised in Chicago, IL to middle class parents. She has an older brother, Henry, who's seven years her senior. When she was young, Nathalie was often getting into trouble, being the polar opposite of Henry. She would cause mayhem around the neighborhood and her mischievous behavior would often elicit heavy punishment from her parents. At one point, she was signed up to attend a martial arts school. Her schedule wasn't as open as before, but she did have the chance to take out whatever aggression she felt in a controlled environment while in class. 

After some time, her parents noticed some improvement with her attitude. She would still get intro trouble, but nowhere near as often as before. The martial arts classes continued for a few more years before she was pulled out in order for her to do well with her studies. Even though she had more free time, Nathalie didn't necessarily need it. She was a bright student, but she didn't apply herself as much as she could have. Such realization didn't hit her until high school, where she picked up her grades after having a serious conversation with one of her counselors. Nathalie then decided she wanted to get into the medical field given that she had the potential to achieve her goals.

From high school, Nathalie went to Columbia University in New York City. It was there she completed both undergrad and graduate school before moving on to her residency. While living in New York, Nathalie met her then boyfriend Jason. He was a surgeon only a few years older than her. In a short period of time, the pair grew extremely close to each other. Even though their schedule made it hard to spend time together on a regular basis, they made it work. 

Years later, the couple found themselves in Ember Grove after one of Jason's relatives passed away, leaving behind a beautifully renovated home with no one to look after it. The discussion that followed wasn't an easy one; Nathalie refusing to move to the small town and Jason insisting they do so given the amazing opportunity they had been afforded. Reluctantly, Nathalie agreed and the two moved to Ember Grove. Despite her decision, Nathalie wasn't all that happy after the move. The couple would fight much more so than regular and given their jobs, they barely spent any time together. These factors combined led to their mutual break-up, and even though Nathalie was dying to move back home at first, she's been settling in her apartment little by little and realizing that maybe staying there a while longer isn't such a bad idea after all.
