All she wanted to do was sleep - obviously, sleep was good - but thanks to a stupid thing called school, she had to get up early. Although really, six-thirty AM would be considered pretty late, once cheer season started in earnest. Morning practices were always brutal. Yet, despite the fact that Steph had already endured three years of practices at times that should have been, like, illegal, she still hated mornings. ...It wasn't like Steph was a night owl, either. She just liked to sleep, okay??? Jeez. Resigning herself to the horrible fate of getting out of bed, Steph pushed aside the covers and grabbed her phone, scrolling through a few notifications that had come in overnight. She scanned social media, flicking through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat, before finally hauling herself onto her feet and flinging open her closet. After a few minutes of deliberation, Steph settled on black denim shorts, a floral pink spaghetti-strap tank top, and a white cardigan, mostly because it was guaranteed to be as cold as like, Ant-fucking-arctica, in the school building (despite the fact that it was probably like ninety-something degrees outside). She took a minute to brush out her hair and post a selfie on Instagram before getting dressed, her mind already racing ahead to the super cute pair of boots that she was going to wear with her outfit. Steph kept the makeup on the lighter side - after her usual layer of foundation and concealer, she did a bit of mascara, and eyeliner, and a pretty shade of bubblegum-pink eyeshadow to complement her nails (which were, very predictably, painted pink), finishing off with some lip gloss. After she settled on a matching earring and necklace set (the necklace was a simple gold chain with a cute square-shaped pendant, and the earrings were gold hoops that she got for her fifteenth birthday), Steph took one final look at herself in the mirror, and, deciding that she was satisfied with her appearance, grabbed her backpack and headed downstairs. Her parents were getting ready for work when Steph plopped herself down at the table, grabbing a box of cereal from the pantry as she did so. Steph checked the time - she still had a little bit before Melissa got there to pick her up - so she ate slowly, going through her phone at the same time. Kevin, her brother, appeared a short while later, looking like the slob that he was. Steph rolled her eyes and ignored him. As she scrolled through her notifications, Steph noticed a text from Hope, and quickly tapped it open. Steph, like, absolutely loved Hope; they'd been friends since middle school!

Good morning Stevie! I think I'm heading to school with Oliver, so I'll see you there soon yeah? I've made you lunch by the way. :) Love you.

Awww, that's so nice of him! Steph thought, smiling as she hurriedly tapped out a reply:

HOPE!!! That's so nice of you!!!! 💖💖💖 I'll see you later for sure!!!!!! I can't wait for lunch now!! 🤗

It wasn't long before Steph finished her cereal. She waited for Melissa to arrive, occupying herself with sending Snapchat streaks in the meantime; she had a 290-day streak that she was pretty proud of, all things considered. There was no way she was going to break it!!!
