Whether you agree or not, isn't it better to go by the GMs rules? I mean, it is his/her game to run and the rules are there for a reason. I mean, honestly, it's better just to acquiesce to small things like that to keep things smooth and civil. Repeatedly deliberately omitting it like that is kind of rude and can delay progress with getting things started. That was kind of not cool...
