To look for new clothing, how was that a priority? He shook his head softly and tightened his lips to the point he was biting down slightly on his lower lip, concealing a chuckle. The folly of the young, he knew of it quite well. As he had been young once aswell, but that felt like a lifetime past. His mentor had taught him well to cast away weaknesses and become a proper force to be reckoned with. Yes, he could remember it as if it had been yesterday. But it felt like a lifetime past... He allowed his mind to traverse back into the past. A memory, of a time other than now, to a place other than here.
"Listen to me carefully. Your mother will need your help, I ask that you will take well care of her when I am gone." The older and tired looking fairy said to him. The older fairy had orange-red hair tied into a ponytail, his face was pale and ordinary looking. "I don't understand this... Can't the healers do anything father? You can still go back to them if you leave me out here..." The young fairy added, the two horns portruding through the long and white messy hair. The two golden irises almost glowing in his eyesockets. "It isn't something they would know how to cure, not all wounds can be healed. Sometimes there is little you can do other than to follow what nature has in store for you. I am at ease with myself, I am ready to be left in natures hands. As we all comes from it, we must someday return to it. Don't worry too much about it, you are still young. You will have a long life to think about it all." The older fairy offered a tired smile as he laid there on the bed made out of roots and fur. "It isn't fair. The old king is far older than you, why does he get to live and you don't?" The young fairy said in a disgruntled manner, his face bearing a mix of disappointment and sorrow. "It is not for us to decide who gets to live or die, life may be unfair but we do what we can with what we are given, sometimes nature has a plan for all things. Much like what I am about to tell you, Elthrael. When you were born, I was given the task to look after you, to shelter you from the rest of the world. To ward you from all danger, but now I realize just how foolish I were to think I could fight the entire world. You are not my child by blood, your true father left you in my care, alongside with your mother. He was of a different fairy kind than me and your mother. You have long wondered why you look like you do, that's because you are a halfbreed, a rarity among our kind. To the most part a forest elf like any other, but with those traits. I never realized how strong your connection were with the plants all around us until I saw what you could create with your inborn gift. Even in your young age, your skills are beyond me." "Listen to me, Elthrael. I want you to look after your mother, she is still of the same blood as you. When you come of age, I want you to travel to the forests surrounding the moon elves, where the forest is withered and dead. In that place you will find the answer to all your questions…" "I don't want to believe it..." The young fairy said, his eyes narrowing slightly. His hands forming into fists. "I know. But it's true. I am sorry that the truth is grim, but I couldn't just let you live in a lie." The older fairy said in a solemn tone of voice, albeit sincere. The young fairy nodded his head in return. "Now... go... help your mother, I am going to take a long well deserved nap..." The tired looking fairy offered a faint smile as he leaned down and closed his eyes. Little did the young fairy know, that would be the last time they would speak. A few years later... "Thrael, don't get too drawn into fighting. To fight is not always the answer to everything, sometimes it is better not to. Use your wits. Dinner is soon done, don't be late okay?" The white haired fairy woman said as she cut some fruits into smaller pieces and putting it into bowls. "The natural order demands me to be stronger, mother. Why should I not try be the best I can possibly be? I have a great mentor who can help me achieve just that. Just you wait mother, someday I will bring us back to the fairy kingdom." The teen said in a low manner as he strode out of the hut towards the training grounds. "You are late." The rugged and wingless fairy said aloud as he waited in the middle of the old stone formation which were located in the forest. This was his mentor, a fairy which had also been exiled. But not for his looks, but rather his way of Life. He was violent, shrewd and someone who lived to fight. A mercenary, a hunter and as of lately in love with his mother. "I was delayed by mother. I am ready now." The teen fairy replied back, kicking a stone out of his path. "Wrong! You should always be ready, you should also be swift. If you are not swift then you will miss opportunities and that is the difference between living and dying." The rugged fairy said in a stern voice, his features less than plesant. His Dirty black hair and scarred skin made for a firm contrast with the pale and whitehaired younger fairy. "Yes, do forgive me. Let me take the test." The young fairy drew his sword from it's sheath. Ready to do what he needed in order to succeed. "No. You are already dead. The moment you went in and drew your weapon so openly, you were hit by a magical blast." The older male said aloud, pointing a finger at him. His face was not one with humor though, but stern and serious. "What are you talking about?" The young fairy said in an annoyed tone of voice, his eyebrows furrowing. "You should always fight battles on your terms, draw your weapons when your opponent has no chance to counter you. Every moment you give them, the greater are their chances to best you. Draw your weapon in secrecy, prepare for your battle and be ready to stay dynamic. Most of all be alert and don't underestimate even the weakest of foes to be prone to do the most underhanded of things." "Yes, I understand... so can we fight already? I am eager to beat you." The young fairy readied himself physically and mentally. "Such arrogance, better not let it get to your head." The older male smirked, and flourished his weapon. Some clashes, sword swinging and magical attacks later. The older fairy found himself against the ground facedown, lying completely still. "Looks like I won after all..." The younger fairy said as he landed and walked closer with his weapon pointed out. A voice came from the downed older male. "Wrong... you lost. Look at your feet. See those small sharp things? The moment I hit the ground I began to manipulate the plantlife under the ground and readied these poisonous thorns. Then I just had to wait for you to spring the trap by landing. You underestimated your opponent, Elthrael. And that is exactly why you lost. Never lower your guard when you have the things in your favor. You chose to land, giving up your advantage of being in the air in order to gloat. Your arrogance blinded you to the point it would have cost your life." The younger fairy grit his teeth. "I see..." He said as he looked at the ground around his feet, now noticing the small thorns that had been prepared to reach out and pierce through his body. "I certainly hope this has been a valuable lesson for you. In order to help you remember it for the next time, you will not get any dinner today..." The older male got up to his feet, brushed off his attire and then sheathed his sword. Then passed by the younger fairy as he stood there with his teeth gritted. Then the swing came through the air, as swift as the wind and the sharp blade found itself near the older male's neck. "You lowered your guard too..." The young fairy said in a slightly cocky manner. "Wrong. Look down." The older man said, meeting eye with the younger fairy, which in turn looked down to see at what his mentor spoke about, then came the knee in the stomach. It hit him with such force it sent him to the ground in an instant. "Unghn..." The young male allowed to escape his lips as he fell to his knees. "Never trust your enemy! Don't lower your guard! Keep your focus boy! Tomorrow we will resume your training..." The older male said as he began to stride towards the hut in the forest, where dinner was just about ready.
Elthrael allowed a smirk to decorate his face as he began to speak in a low tone of voice. "Watch from wherever you are my mentor, watch as I will claim it all..."
