Penelope shifted a bit as Kane sat down next to her. She took a sip of her drink in an effort to act oblivious to the bold move. It was difficult to put up with the nobleman's advances when she was already secretly taken for. However, it wouldn't be too much longer before her and Crow would be able to court, provided he was able to get the king's approval. With that in mind, she felt she could tolerate Kane's presence. However, it seemed that feeling was one sided as she noticed Crow had gotten tense and Naida didn't seem anymore thrilled about the newcomer. The knight listened as her friend spoke to Kane, subtly hinting that he wasn't as welcomed as he had thought. "I see. Well I apologize for the interruption then." Kane said with an awkward chuckle. Aside from the apology, he quickly brushed off Naida's words and instead turned his focus back onto Penelope, smiling at the knight as he added, "It's certainly an accomplishment worthy of celebrating though. You were quite impressive the other night." "Thanks." Penelope said with a small smile. A small silence followed and she shifted a bit. Deciding to try and be cordial, she turned back to the nobleman. "You said you were good friends of Oliver's, right?" Kane nodded his head. "I am. We knew each other from childhood, he was always a bit like an older brother to me in some ways." "He's a good man. I owe him and his wife a great deal of thanks for all they've done to help me with this cause." Penelope mused. "I'm sure that ending the war will be plenty thanks for both of them." Kane smiled. He paused to flag down a wench, ordering a drink before her turned back to the others. His gaze focused on Crow for once and he gave an amused smirk. "I just hope that if the king does settle for peace that the Younisians don't recognize our new viceory here. Wouldn't be your first time into the castle, right?"
