Wow, this is actually a pretty good turn out! I guess I'll get started on trying to make something a bit more official, maybe make another interest check that's better organised and has some more lore in the causal interest checks page. 

Right now, I'm thinking something very similar to the backstory for BCB for this, where people are beginning to realise a famine may very well be on the way some time in the next few years, and as if that weren't bad enough, monster attacks are also up! Oh no, what are we to do?! I'll tell you what we're to do, we're gonna get sent on a mission from either guild or government where we travel the world, accumulating recipes that can use monster ingredients! This can come from finding the small, relatively isolated cultures that do this already or making them up ourselves when we're all just goofing off at camp. It may take some convincing though, because the idea of eating monsters is a rather off-putting one to the majority of modern society.
