His last name inspires fear among both the criminal and political elements of Iliad. Publicly known as socialites and business figures within the city the Morils have for generations truly made their wealth as assassins and spies. They have been rumored to be the puppeteers of the organization known only as The Blackbird, famous for high profile murders ranging from Political opponents of wealthy politicians, to Criminal heiresses. The legacy of the Moril Family begins a pair of brothers. Aleksandr and Dmitri. Aleksandr, the older brother, is the patriarch of the Moril family and a public figure within Iliad. He founded a real estate business that quickly exploded into a powerhouse within the city. With his wealth, came love. He married young to a young noblewoman named Patricia Drakvylde and together they built the public face of the family. An image of good faith and philanthropy are what Aleksandr and Patricia want for the Moril clan, and they practice this by funding charitable events and generous donations to needy causes. They have 9 children together, all of which are either alumni or currently attending the Marduk academy like their parents before them. Dmitri and his brother are fundamentally different in every way, Aleksandr enjoys and thrives in the public eye, Dmitri does not. Dmitri focused on his magic and his skillset. Colder than his brother, Dmitri took it upon himself to protect his brother and his family interests. Eliminating competitors and silencing opponents on behalf of his brother most of the time even without Aleksandrs knowledge, he quietly became known as the Moril family’s Hound. If it were to be speculated which of the two brothers would be the mastermind of The Blackbird it would Dmitri Moril. He married much later than his brother to a woman who died during childbirth, leaving The hound of the Moril family to raise Galan by himself. Galan like his father, soon found himself operating from the shadows within the Moril family. He was forbidden from playing with his cousins from a young age, his father preferring to train the boy to be hard, punishing him severely for any mistakes in his magical studies, as well as his practical ones. Despite this training Galan found he could barely control the magic his father was drilling him in. His way was imperfect, and would cause Galan a great deal of pain as well as leave a multitude of scars running up and down the length of his arms and chest as well as some of his back. Because of his failures,When he was old enough Dmitri enrolled Galan in the Ishtar School for creative minds. In part this was to further separate him from his cousins in Marduk as well as to further hone his Sons combat prowess and possibly assist the boy master the magic he possesses. Mundane Skills: Galan is incredibly skilled in combat, his father trained him extensively in a wide array of weapons from knives to swords to firearms, just to name a few. Galan typically spends a lot of his time training at the behest of his father, but on his off time he did find time for hobbies. Galan enjoys and is quite good at the piano, music is an escape from the stresses he deals with daily. Music is also one of the few pursuits his father allows Galan. Beyond being a pianist, Galan privately keeps a deck of cards in his room, during the evenings he would practice card tricks to pass the time and has become adept at handling and shuffling cards, finding it to be an enjoyable hobby as well as a good skill should he ever find himself in a game of cards. Magic: Galan has poor control over the magic he wields. In the words of his father, there is a cavernous difference between being able to use the magic he taught Galan, and being able to use it well. Shadow Duplicate. This type of power in the hands of a mage with extreme skill, would allow for them to draw on the darkness make multiple duplicates of themselves with faces and the ability to interact with the material world to assist in combat or mundane tasks, a particularly skilled mage to keep control of these duplicates without even having them in line of sight, sharing their collective consciousness with them, making this skill a key one in the usage of assassins of The Blackbird organization. Galan’s mastery of this power is an extremely limited version of it. He can only draw on the darkness to produce one single Duplicate, further he can only bring the duplicate to look like a dark shadow version of his own body type and build, no facial features or marks on the duplicate. He also can’t be too far away from this shadow being, his control over the darkness limiting him to just the same room he is in. Shadow Walking. The intended usage of this power is for infiltration and stealth. A skilled mage is able to use the darkness around them to turn into a living shade melding into the darkness and giving their enemies the illusion of them disappearing into thin air, just to reappear behind them, or above them. Gravity and a physical presence become optional to the skilled mage, so long as there is darkness, or even the semblance of a shadow a shadow walker can appear from anywhere, or be passed right through by an enemy, as well as being able to attack from this form. Galan’s mastery of this power could be considered his weakest of them all. While he can still make himself blend into the darkness around him, he can’t remove his physical presence, if he steps on a floorboard it will squeak, if an enemy happens to get a lucky guess and swing at him, he will be hit. Shadow walking takes a lot of concentration for Galan, so when he’s in it his duplicate if in the field will dissipate. And in order to attack he needs to exit his shadow walk. Skeletal Manipulation. This power is a mixture of the healing magics taught primarily at Marduk Academy, mixed with Combat Magic taught at Ishtar. In the hands of a skilled mage, the user could manipulate their own skeleton painlessly. The types of manipulation including being able to use the bones of their fingers as a projectile, or their femur as a sword, the Healing magic regenerating a new bone in its place painlessly and sealing the skin once the weapon is retrieved. Galan’s mastery of this power could be argued as the best out of all the magic in his Arsenal, and with good reason one mistake could mean his death. He can’t however, seem to get the painless part of this power down, as such whenever he uses the Bone Weaponry it feels like his bones are breaking, and the pain is relentless, and on the exit of his skin he's not be able to fully seal the skin back up, thus causing bleeding and scarring after every usage. Blood magic. A skilled Blood mage can manipulate their blood into weapons, make their blood acidic or poisonous, perhaps even affect the blood in someone else. Galan took to the study of blood magic because of the side effects of his mastery of Skeletal Manipulation, if he was going to bleed every time perhaps he could make use of it. True to form however, his mastery of the blood magic is extremely limited. He can’t affect the blood in others or a foe, just his own. And while he’s skilled enough to make weapons out his blood in a pinch, he isn’t skilled enough to replenish the blood he uses back into his body. The more of his own blood he uses, the less blood his heart has to pump within himself which could lead to his death. Because of this, Galan tries to only use Blood magic to make his blood poisonous, giving his bone weapons and regular weapons a base, so even if he grazes an enemy it could be a deadly encounter for the person. Personality: If one weren’t acquainted with Galan he could be mistaken for being Morose and removed emotionally from his peers. In reality he’s quite the contrary, Galan is quite shy and has trouble communicating with strangers, but he is far from the emotionally checked out person most people clock him as when they first meet. When you’ve become a friend of Galan you quickly find him eager to spend time with you, most of his friends find that he’s quite difficult to shut up. for the majority of his life he has been alone, his father being the only person he was really allowed to partake with outside of schooling, and even then that was only really for training and dinner. Galan is also tender and kind to those he considers close enough to let into his shell, those who consider him friend find it difficult to believe he’s the offspring and apprentice of an assassin, His demeanor in the presence of those he trusts resemble that of a healer, not a killer. Faction (Marduk, Ishtar, or Cassandra):Ishtar Are you a Descendant of the Illuminated Poet?: No Important Relations:
Dmitri Moril is a cold and distant figure in Galan’s life. Life for the two of them revolves Galan’s training to join and eventually take control of The Blackbird Organization. Dmitri believes that requires firm discipline and training and little coddling. If Galan is to lead The Blackbirds, he needs to toughen up. Because of these ideas their relationship resembles more of a subordinate and master, than a father and son.
