The heads of the clans were approached, during one of the Ninja Wars of the past, asking for more support and bodies in order to serve the Mizukage. The leaders of the Kiryu denied them anymore support as the war was coming to an end and therefore was no need to send more people to an unnecessary death, one with no honor. Kiryu Clan was given the ultimatum of submit, or perish. The threat contained the promise that their names and history would be wiped from all records - it would be as if they never existed in the first place. After speaking with the others of the clan, it was decided that they would feign submission in order to double cross their suppressors. However, their plan went to hell when they were betrayed within their own loyal ranks. Many died in an attempt to flee or fight. It was difficult to determine which were foe and which were not. They had been trapped by their own familial members as well as the enemy - loyal only to the Mizukage. The ones who were lucky enough to escape were typically hunted and then caught by the elite hunter-nin of Kiri and were dealt with swiftly. Anyone who did escape hasn't been heard from in over 30 years.

The only known surviving member of the Kiryu Clan was the son of the Clan head - [url=https://i.pinimg.com/originals/17/af/ba/17afba5a49a567cdbacd76cd595d7b83.gif]Kiryu Hitoshi[/url] - and Izayoi's father. He traveled to Konohagakure; defecting and swearing fealty to them. Hitoshi began his new life, growing up among the Leaf's genin; training hard to join himself. However it was a tad difficult in the beginning, seeing as he was ostracized for being an [i]"outsider"[/i]. However, during his time at the academy and training and working hard to prove himself to the rest of the village, he met and was befriended by [color=a587d5]Mochi Hagotae “The Leaf’s Lovable Soldier Ant”[/color]. Together they formed an inseparable duo. One was stoic and silent, the other rambunctious and sociable. It was through Hagotae that Hitoshi met and fell in love with his future wife, [url=https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b2/67/82/b267829c11b4b789dc26e3bfdeb100ea.gif]Mochi Momochira[/url] of the Mochi Clan. They were soon married and eventually started their family.

Hagotae has a daughter, [url=https://i.imgur.com/ZBa3kKd_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium]Mochi Kurimi[/url], Izayoi's cousin and closest friend. They would play and train and just get into trouble as all little shinobi do. They are practically inseparable just as their fathers are. Even now Kurimi tells her that it was all thanks to Izayoi that she's decided to solidify her resolve in pursuing the shinobi life. Being the louder and more rambunctious of the two girls, Izayoi would constantly drag around her cousin to play in the city or with the other shinobi's in training. It was during these times that, even though her cousin was shy and quiet, Iza was able to understand and speak with her on a mental and unspoken level. As they grew older, it didn't happen as much - however it was still nice to be able to just sit in one another's presence and not have to worry about conversations growing stale.

Before Izayoi was born into the world, she had two other siblings. Twin sisters; [url=https://i.pinimg.com/564x/28/b7/85/28b785d3c64fe6c4e2507e989ee4f42d.jpg]Aneko[/url] & [url=https://i.pinimg.com/564x/a8/4d/8a/a84d8a4d81449add59d578d6673fb0ae.jpg]Kaede[/url] Both of them specializing in genjutsu and tracking - joining the ANBU ops. They joined and fought in the War, both of them losing their lives and making life around the Kiryu house... different. Her father pushed her harder than he ever pushed his other daughters - hoping that the same fate would not befall Izayoi as it did the others. He wanted her to be stronger and to be able to take care of herself. Although his motives were... well warranted, Hitoshi didn't express it in the best ways. His relationship with his only surviving child was strained to say the least and when Izayoi grew older the rift between them became almost irreparable.

For the majority of Izayoi's life, her father has hidden his family's true origins. Where he came from, who is truly is. Mainly it was for fear of rejection and the potential death of his family if it were to get out that he hailed from a dead clan that once pledged itself to Kirigakure. So, he's kept quiet of the knowledge, planning on taking it to his grave. It wasn't until the anniversary of her sister's death where everything turned upside down. Training with her father, uncle and cousin; Mochi Hagotae & Mochi Kurimi - in bukijutsu. The girls had been worked ragged and as she went to take a small break, leaning against her father to catch her breath, it happened.

It was as if she were being transported deep inside Hitoshi's mind without ever meaning too. It was there, in that brief split moment where Izayoi realized that her father had lied to her all her life. When he finally was able to get her to listen to him, he told her the story of what happened there in the village all those years ago. How he had to leave in order to survive. But she didn't listen. She resents her father for running away from the fight. Blames him for the loss of growing up without being surrounded and encompassed by her heritage and roots and extended family. She feels robbed of the chance to have an even larger family and feels like her father should "practice what he preaches" - he's so hard on her, constantly telling her to "do better", "work harder", "not good enough"... So, now it's how she views her own work ethic - making sure that she is in the tip-top position she can be at all times. But also due to her father and his cowardice; at least that's what she sees and interprets, it's the reason her nindō is what it is.

Her genjutsu is amplified when using her Ketsuryūgan and controlling another being is made easier and available when Ketsuryūgan is active. Though, the longer she uses the Ketsuryūgan, the more her chakra is drained, and the strain caused on her body and mind is increased. After using she is prone to intense headaches, nose bleeds and bleeding from the eyes in extreme cases.[/color]

Because of the types of weapons she wields and the sheer size of them, her throwing and swinging strength is intense. You wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of any of her blades and weapons.
