Or, at least, it’s what people expected of him. Reality, however, is often disappointing.

Hikaru is a post-war baby, born to parents who couldn’t make it all the way home before they got at each other. By the time they’d traveled across the nations and back to the Village Hidden in the Leaves, Masuyo was five weeks pregnant. Hikaru grew up with an older brother who was a prodigy and parents that were deciding factors in the war. Both of his parents were exceptionally influential in the war; after one particular battle, where the pair were said to have fought off a thousand shinobi — each. Following that fight, both Masuyo and Daisuke Kaminari were left with a unique designation from the enemies of the Leaf:

Run on sight.

Ever since he was old enough to talk, Hikaru has been convinced that one day he’ll have that same designation.

Unfortunately for him, he’s had trouble getting there. While Karu’s heart has always been in the right place, he wasn’t born with a lot of natural talent — not gifted, like his older brother Kenshin. He’s not a ninjutsu genius, like his mother. And he certainly doesn’t have the control of the clan dojutsu, the Sharingan, that his father has.

In fact, Karu dragged himself through the Ninja Academy kicking and screaming, and relying on his friends (now squad mates) for assistance. He didn’t understand why he wasn’t as good as his family members, and to this day he still doesn’t. Even with the famed Kaminari blood, Karu has been decidedly average, or even below average in some respects. To their credit, Karu’s family has been nothing but supportive in his struggles — there’s no disappointment from his parents, and no resentment from his brother. And Karu feels the same way. It isn’t [i]their[/i] fault that something isn’t clicking with him.

Once he graduated from the Academy, and finally pulled the Leaf headband onto his forehead for the first time, Karu couldn’t have been prouder of himself. It was a long road to get there, and truth be told he wouldn’t have made it without his friends or a dash of dumb luck… With that burst of motivation, Hikaru has trained obsessively. While his goal isn’t quite as squishy as other people his age — a lot of them want to be Hokage and as the Hokage’s son, Karu can confidently say he doesn’t want [i]that[/i] job — it’s a goal nonetheless, and Hikaru has dedicated himself to it entirely.

He works hard, and he never gives up. In fact, his obsession with training and pushing himself endlessly has proven to be unhealthy at times. More than once, Kenshin and his parents have had to scrape his exhausted, heavily sleeping body off of the ground in the training area. More than once, Hikaru has woken up and done it all over again. If it wasn’t for the Kaminari blood, he may have in fact worked himself to death already.

More than once, Hikaru has bit off more than he can chew, and landed himself, or the entirety of Squad Three in trouble. More than once, Hikaru has fought his way out of it and come home covered in bruises and cuts to ‘sleep it off’ with a quip of ‘you should see the other guys’ in Kenshin’s direction.

It’s all paying off.

Hikaru has recently hit his stride as a ninja, and as a Kaminari. He’s leaps and bounds better than the kid who could once barely name the different hand seals that form the basis of ninjutsu. While he may not have the natural abilities of his family(or even have awakened his Sharingan), Hikaru has something proving to be even more valuable.

The will to never give up, and push past the boundaries of his limits.[/color][/indent]

[indent][color=A9A9A9]Hikaru’s story is one of never backing down. I mostly designed him because I want to see what a character who has the Sharingan on his side, but lacks the genius status of most of the canon users is like. Hikaru will eventually unlock his dojutsu and its abilities, and by the time we get to the meat of part two,l he’ll have hopefully overcome his limitations further.

After all, he’s got to take it even further beyond.

To do so, I’d like to have someone play his mentor! Someone who can [i]totally teach him the Rasengan[/i].[/color][/indent]

The main source of his success can be attributed to his unbending will and refusal to give up — one way or another, Hikaru is going to make his village proud of him. The will of fire burns bright inside of him, driving him to keep moving forward and become someone who the people of the Leaf can look up to, and rely on for protection. So far, at least the kittens of the Leaf can rely on him![/color] 
[color=7e9ddd][b]• Looking on the Bright Side:[/b][/color][color=A9A9A9] As much a s kill as anything else, the infectious good mood and optimism of Karu is as helpful to his team’s success as the Ketsuryūgan or the Mori’s fūinjutsu. Or at least that’s what he likes to tell himself![/color]
[color=7e9ddd][b]• Creativity:[/b][/color] [color=a9a9a9]Karu is a very creative young man, doing the best with what he has. He’s more or less made up his techniques as best he could. It’s a start, but it’s nothing special. Not [i]yet[/i] anyway.[/color]
[color=7e9ddd][b]• Naming Techniques:[/b][/color] [color=A9A9A9]The truth is, all of Karu’s attacks are nothing special. They’re a combination of low level attacks and flurries of taijutsu moves. It tends to work out in the end, mostly because Karu has improved leaps and bounds since the Academy, but… [i]Karu[/i] thinks it’s because it’s a lot scarier getting hit by ‘Ten Thousand Flying Knives of Death Jutsu’ instead of ‘shuriken jutsu.’ Don’t break his heart and tell him the truth.[/color][/INDENT]

He tries not to use them, because he’s saving them for something big. The pair of kunai are the ones his parents were carrying during their most famous battle. He wants to do them justice![/color]

A member of one of Konoha’s oldest clans, the Kurokawa, Sam had a lot of expectations as he went to the Academy. With the combination of the ‘state of things,’ and his own prodigal skills, Sam breezed through the Academy and found himself in the ANBU black ops at a very young age, alongside one of the other members of his previous genin squad — Kaminari Satoshi.

Together, the pair worked with an ANBU squad throughout the war until Satoshi’s death near the end. Following his best friend’s death, Samuru took over the leadership of their ANBU team. For the remainder of the war, Samuru led them through various successful missions, and minimal mission failures. When the war ended, Samuru worked with a handpicked squad to clean up a few messes left over from the war — rogue ninja sects, a few diehards here and there who weren’t ready to call it quits yet… — at the request of the newly appointed Hokage.

After that, Sam wanted one thing: to live a peaceful life. With the approval of the Hokage, Samuru stepped down from the ANBU Black Ops and accepted a position as a ‘de-activated’ Leaf jonin. After that, he left the village and spent the next few years roaming around the world in search of exquisite cuisine, something he and Satoshi had shared an interest in when they were younger.

Quietly fulfilling a promise to his dead friend to try all the different foods in the world, Sam was content if nothing else. In fact, he was getting quite used to the hermit lifestyle, until three years ago, when the Leaf called on him for his service once more…

This time as a bloody teacher… Every day, Samuru curses Kenshin’s name for getting him into this. But, it could be worse.[/color][/indent]

It is not uncommon for those who come from money, to come from class. For Kaiju, one of those things is true, but not the other. Kaiju comes from the Ashikaga clan, one of the richest, longest standing clans in Konoha. The Ashikaga clan made their money in a certain kind of way.

Possessing the unique Wood Release kekkei genkai, the Ashikaga has been a member of Konoha since the founding of the village. Strangely, though, they were virtually pacifistic and have maintained that lifestyle for most of their existence. Nonetheless, they are rather [i]greedy[/i], and used their kekkei genkai to create the family business: The Soaked Grove.

The Soaked Grove is a huge grove of trees created through the clan’s kekkei genkai, complete with a tea garden, hot springs, and… Konoha’s only brothel. Throughout the long lasting shinobi war, the Soaked Grove offered a discount to all the soldiers hard at work protecting them… normally, something like Wood Release would have been forcibly weaponized by its village, but Konoha saw so much tax revenue, and charitable donations from the Soaked Grove, that they made no attempt to force the Ashikaga out of their pacifism.

For generations now, the Ashikaga have been one of the most affluent and wealthy families in Konoha, boasting an even bigger grover, an even bigger collection of hot springs, and even more options for companionship… but now, two of the members of the youngest generation of the Ashikaga are committed to becoming shinobi and protecting and serving their village!

For… very [i]different[/i] reasons.

Kaiju Ashikaga has spent all thirteen years of his life in absolute luxury, and was blessed with the ability to utilize Wood Release, Kai had a natural talent for ninjutsu, and proved to be a quick learner in taijutsu and genjutsu. He was gonna complete his goal!

The goal in question?

Quite simple. Having grown up spending his whole life watching the Leaf shinobi come, kiss the extremely pretty girls, and then leave after visiting his mother at the receptionist’s desk. Kai was convinced that if he became a Leaf shinobi, the girls would fall into his lap!

So far, as a genin, it hasn’t worked yet. But! Kai has no fear, he’s gonna keep at it, and be a lady killer one day. One day.[/color][/indent]

[indent][color=A9A9A9]Kai’s endgame is being the one, the only, the legendary Wood Release master Toad Sage of Mount Myōboku, Kaiju the Magnificent! Basically, Kai is a pervy guy who’s gonna eventually be good with the ladies, maybe, and he thinks the only way to do so is to become a killer ninja! Maybe he’ll learn otherwise, maybe he won’t. Who knows?

Basically, I plan to have Kaiju become a Toad Sage (taking applications for toad sage mentors), and a Wood Release dude, who keeps his pervy personality (think Master Roshi kinda), and never really grows up.[/color][/indent]

Maybe it helps that he has such a unique and powerful Kekkei Genkai, but this stuff has been coming to him naturally since he as a child.[/color] 
[color=44b538][b]• Easily Motivated[/b][/color][color=A9A9A9] While Kai is far from self motivated, he is easy enough to motivate. In fact, it only takes a few magic words from his sensei to get Kai to really apply himself. Without that, though? He’s not exactly [i]lazy[/i], he’s just focused on something… more important. Luckily, it doesn’t take much effort to give him the proper motivation.[/color]
[color=44b538][b]• Creative Thinker[/b][/color][color=A9A9A9] Kai has spent the past few years perfecting the art of being a peeping tom — it’s lead to him being quite the out of the box thinker. Kaiju finds a way in most situations, and it’s part of why he’s so successful at his real joy in life.[/color]

At its greatest, it can be used to create mighty trees of various size and shape, not unlike how the great Soaked Grove was created by Kaiju’s ancestors. Wooden constructs can also be created, from mansions to cages. Users of Wood Release also possess a Regeneration Ability, passively healing their injuries.[/color][/INDENT]

Honestly, to him, it’s a mystery why no one of his family has tried to be a ninja before.[/color][/INDENT]

Using their Explosive Release kekkei genkai to manufacture their trademark fireworks, which are known throughout the country as being both beautiful and deadly. While most Shinobi would be happy to have such a powerful bloodline limit on their side, Fujiyoshi Kohana is not most people. In fact, Hana is quite the opposite — she thinks both her clan’s kekkei genkai and even her natural affinity to fire release are destructive, and destruction is never beautiful.

While she would rather spend her time making flower arrangements, no one can choose their family, and Hana is stuck with the one she’s got. As such, she’s decided to stick to being a ninja and seeing where it takes her — it can’t be any worse than blowing things up for a living, can it?[/color][/indent]
