On a large elliptical orbit 2.35 standard years around it’s sun Ko Sectii is marked with extreme summers and winters 56c/-18c 
(It is this annual cycle and it’s ecological pressure that is why the race was made amphibious by the race they say made them some 60,000 standard years ago to colonize their world as slaves. Starfleet medical has confirmed that they were genetically manipulated in the time period they claim.)

The Ko Sectii are an amphibious race and as such can withstand pressures up to 100 atmosphere with little to no effect except an increased need of calorie intake.
Air breathing mammals, they must breathe air every 20-35 minutes depending on their physical activity levels.
They have a normal body temperature of  41.88 C/107.4 F making them literally hot blooded though this is only detectable by scans because of an efficient cellular insulator membrane giving the outer surface of their skin a mean temperature of 37.3 -and 38.2 C ( 99.14 and 100.76 F) a humans being  33.5 and 36.9 C (92.3 and 98.4F)
As diving mammals they developed or it was genetically manipulated in the Ko Sectii an odd psionic ability they call Mev or Mev a wess which translated means Hearing Life. Mev is akin to the sharks of Earth’s ampullae of Lorenzini used to detect the bioelectric fields of living beings around themselves and can be used as a communication method between members of the same race. In the water is where this talent is at its best and has a range of around 400 meters for general location growing more accurate the closer they get to prey. Outside of water their range is limited to 20 meters in the best conditions and grows shorter in areas that are under higher gauss radiation.
Mev as they developed a better Scientific understanding of the body became a tool used by the healers of their race to detect aberrations in the bioelectric fields of their patients a skill that was cultivated as far back as 9,000 years ago which coupled with selective breeding developed the genetic line Mev Ra an offshoot of the Ad Nir or Noble blood lines. (Think of Mev as a sort of simple biological tricorder set to a limited frequency)
Due to the genetic manipulation of their race in antiquity the Ko Sectii suffer an extreme Female to male birth ratio (50-62 female births for each male birth) and also Males suffer a low fertility rate some 23% born infertile. It is this disparity that makes the Ko Sectii so protective of their males and as a result their offspring. This is reflected in the “Law of Bone and Blood”  which punishes any who harm a male or child in like injury even before any legal proceedings which levy farther punishment based on intended harm and or negligence.
