He didn't grow up in Forsaken, but he'd made a life for himself there. As a child, he lived on his parents' farm with two older brothers and a younger sister. His father had always told him he had a way with the crops, he had no idea why but they always grew better when he helped take care of them. A "green thumb", he'd called him. In his spare time, David took care of a flower patch in front of their farmhouse for his sister to play in so that their mother could keep an eye on her from the window when she was chopping vegetables. None of them ever guessed that David's green thumb was the result of necromancy. He didn't know how he did it. He couldn't explain it - still can't. If anything, he doesn't really understand why other people can't. But it scared them. His family, that is. After that poor bird flew into the window and hit it's head rather hard, he knew it was going to die. It acted funny for a day and then the next morning, it wasn't moving. So he woke it up. He told his parents that it was fine, he'd fixed it. After that day, they never looked at him the same way, and he knew what he'd done had scared them, though he didn't know why, at the time. "Things aren't supposed to come back," they'd told him. "It's not natural." Well if he could wake them up again, wasn't it natural? Either way, he didn't like the way people looked at him and treated him after that, so he left for Forsaken. All kinds of odd folks end up there, he'd heard. People were a bit more open to "unnatural" ideas. When he got there, he became an understudy of the local taxidermist - thought perhaps he could put his skill to use there. Well, if people wanted their deceased pets to look alive, why not simply bring them back to life? And anyway, as far as he knew, he was the only one around that could do it. The taxidermist wasn't too thrilled about his idea though, and had other plans. Trained him to sew and knit pelts onto animal molds. Taught him how to carve the molds, too. The taxidermist was an old man though, and eventually had to retire. Left the entire store to David, provided David give him enough for retirement. It was a small price to pay for the ownership of the business, and after everything was done and sealed, he began offering necromancy as a service to people who just really couldn't let their pets go. He's been living in Forsaken ever since. He came across "the goliath" purely by accident. He'd been returning home via a shortcut through an alley where he found the body of a recently shot Goliath (he assumed some kind of standoff), and it occurred to him that having an assistant would be beneficial to him. Well after a while he couldn't stand the smell of the reanimated corpse so he boiled him down and cleaned up his bones. Apparently necrosis was only prevented if he reanimated a corpse that died of natural means and if the necrosis was not already advanced, which is why he never had an issue or complaints about necrosis when reanimating someone's pet. He still has no idea why it works that way.
