While it was a conclusion anyone could come to, sometimes it was better left unsaid to avoid facing the terrifying reality. Instead, she stood silently and listened as Dennis attempted to pull himself together and respond to her previous question. “Ye-yeah. I think, uh, I think I can do that. We should start heading back to the dorms. Do you think you can stay with me on the way? I don’t want to be alone right now.” He asked meekly, seeming more than a little embarrassed but Amaris responded with the warmest, kindest smile she could muster in such a tense situation. “Don’t worry yourself over something like compensation. It would be rather rude of me to not ensure your safe return to your dwellings. What would your friends think of me if I left you wander home alone? Come along, we’re getting left behind.” Amaris continued to support the mage as she lead him back into the flow of patrons exiting the building as instructed. The general dorms weren’t all that far, but every step was weighted with the knowledge of what had happened just under their noses. And as if murder wasn’t enough excitement for one night, Amaris still hadn’t seen Casandra since passing her on the dance floor. For all she knew the girl was one of the bodies being hidden from view, some lie being woven to cover up the fact that someone was able to commit such a crime on royal property… Amaris gritted her teeth in an attempt to calm herself, there was little use in panicking now. “She’ll be fine…” She mumbled to herself before glancing over at Dennis. “Is the cool air helping any?” Amaris didn’t know what else to say. She wanted to be of some comfort to the mage but outside of providing an escort back to his dorm, there was little she knew how to do or say to console a human mind.
