Scenario: you birth a child. That child is taken from you at a young age, and you are stricken from grief. You come ot find out years later that the child is alive... but has been mentally broken by a horrible being. She is now unhinged, barely capable of standard thought levels, but yet stil,l despite all the screwed up things she does, trys to let the real her shine through that mess. There is hope ot save them. Do you pull the trigger, shoot them dead? Or do you actually put some fucking effort  into fixing them, unlike you and your strained relationship with your siblings?
