I also had an idea that whilst there she would probably make him some food so he could eat. Maybe because she shows too much kindness towards him her fathers hits her too? 

Ohh I like the idea of them having to hide in the streets and such whilst sneaking him back into the capital! Ohhh what if as well on the road Cas gets a little sick? Maybe just like a fever or cold? Iris looks after him? Tries to get medicine/food etc? I can see Caspains eyes being opened up a bit more whilst they are hiding out on the streets etc. 

Maybe when they finally get back into the capital all the soldiers swarm them?
