Tetsu had a very different childhood than most kids from the village.  Tetsu grew up never knowing his real mother or father or if he had a clan to call his own by blood.  Tetsu as far as he knows was taken in as an infant after his family abandoned him on the doorsteps of his adopted family.  This, of course, left a large amount of resentment in Tetsu’s heart towards whoever his original family was and a very dark view of the world around him.  On the upside of this, it has given Tetsu all the motivation in the world to train relentlessly to show that he wasn’t a mistake or something meant to be thrown away.

Of course, this was only amplified by his family at home.  In all honesty, he didn’t hate his adopted family but it was always hard to feel connected when you weren’t from the same blood as your siblings.  His “Father” while nice enough was always an asshole to an extent that constantly pushed him to work harder than he was, which was already too dangerous levels.  Some took this as simply wanting a child to succeed but Tetsu always felt like there was more behind his constant pushing.  

Of course unknown to Tetsu was his suspicions were right.  Tetsu never truly belonged to the Leaf Village but was in fact born in the Sand Village to a very powerful yet small clan. Like Tetsu himself, the clan was full of Magnet Style specialists who all had an affinity for controlling a different mineral in the earth.  During one of the last days of the war, Tetsu’s clan did battle with a large Leaf invasion force that left the clan massacred.  Those that managed to live fled and scared across the continent leaving and infant Tetsu alone to the leaf ninja.  Not finding the heart to kill the child a leaf Jonin took the child back to be taken care of and raised as a leaf ninja.  

Being raised a Leaf ninja and being expected to be a powerful asset to the village meant Tetsu enrolled in the Acadamy as soon as he came of age.  Pushing himself constantly meant that he quickly became one of the top students throughout his time as a student.  As far as friends went Tetsu really didn’t have any during his time at the academy.  Most students avoided him altogether if at all possible.  Whether this came from the respect for his abilities or fear of them Tetsu didn’t quite know nor did he care all that much.  While he kept away from most of the students, with a few exceptions, he did grow a level of respect for the other students who seemed dedicate themselves to training as much as he had.

for power-wise, I would love to see Tetsu get stronger after the time skip.  eventually reaching to where people like Garra and similar Ninja were at.  along with creating his own interesting ways to use his abilities.  and maybe working on his weak points while still using the Iron Sand.

as far as storytelling possibly looking for his other clan members after he leaves the village and either making sure their ok or trying to rebuild the clan.  whether that comes by just bring them all together or by finding a future wife will depend on how the story goes.

Additionally, an option that could come up is a redemption arc for Tetsu after he leaves the village.  most likely won't be full redemption more of just helping for his own reason but I wouldn't count out the possibility of him being pulled back to the side of good.
