Thoughts! That said, if you're offering -" Jovial, easy-going and seemingly an open book, Hector makes no effort to conceal the circumstances regarding his ascension to the throne - which doesn’t always correlate to him being truthful about it. He will happily share his story with anyone willing to listen, especially if it helps to divert attention from his private affairs. More often than not, he can be found waxing poetry about his surroundings, asking questions with no tangible answers, which seems to correlate with someone who is in love with the sound of their own voice. Some people say he was not always this way - But, regardless of what the rumours might say, one thing is true: Hector casts a very warm light on those that he trusts and a very cold shadow on those he doesn’t.
⤭ Likes // Dislikes
✔ Drinking, playing chess, verbal sparring, horseback riding, riling people up ✘ Circular logic, lukewarm reactions, following etiquette, pollen (allergic), confined spaces
⤭ Biography
Those who commit the unspeakable crime will be condemned to become a remnant of the night. Someone whose existence will always be associated with misfortune and ill omens. During his studies, Hector often found that history was a curious thing. His grandfather, Lord Frederick C. Gaumont , who had been king of all the lands which now formed Norn, had once earned the title of God’s Scourge after leading a battle against his own people, determined to convert every man, woman and child into Norn’s deist religion . He ensured peace lasted for many years after that, often indoctrinating the new generations and doing away with the dissenters. During those times, Frederick had given the family its official coat of arms – it depicted three cards of the major arcana, representing his family – The Tower, The Star and The Moon. A gloved hand held them, with an inscription below: Alea iacta est, " The die is cast”. The emblem was cut on medals and embossed on shields and breastplates. It was engraved in wood and printed on the title pages of geographies of Norn’s land, and it was stamped on coins made of gold that was dug many years later. This emblem was so famous that it went on being stamped on gold coins long after Frederick was dead (His reign being cut short after his abrupt, and rather violent, passing), for so long that the dies lost their detail, and the words of the motto were worn away, and still it kept being stamped on Nornian coins, though all that was left to be seen were the three empty cards and a naked hand, no longer meaning "Norn" or "Gaumont" or "The die is cast" but only "Beware", for no kingdom is eternal. It was Hector’s duty to know this, for it marked the beginning of a long string of short-lived rulers. In their defense, they no longer waged their wars in public – after Frederick’s passing, Norn’s ruling class chose to follow the isolationist policy in all but name, presenting a warm and united front to the masses, as kings passed and heirs disappeared. The day he was crowned – and stories often contradict themselves on how, exactly, this happened -, a singular event happened for the first time in many years: The palace’s doors were thrown open for the common people. They feasted, they celebrated and swore fealty, and for a single evening, no one spoke of how the Usurper King was reigning on borrowed time.
