Sexuality Heterosexual Race Vinlandian! Appearance Austin has nice black hair that is relatively short as so it stays out of his eyes and off the back of his neck. His eyes are an unusual red colour that he is sometimes self conscious about. His face is clean and doesn’t bare any blemishes or wounds, along with no facial hair, a blessing in his mind. He hasn’t some muscle to him on his upper and lower body, having strong legs and arms for heavy lifting and running. Out of uniform he is often wearing much more comfortable clothing, such as a short sleeved red shirt along with dark blue baggy pants. However while in uniform he makes sure he is ready for anything. He carries with him his combat blade at all times in case of emergencies and often wears his gear and armour so that he is always ready in case of a sudden attack. But the one thing that distinguishes him from everyone else is a pendant that he wears around his neck at all times, both on duty and off. It contains a picture of his family and him all together at his home in Vinland, he is never seen without it, no matter the time or place he is in. Height He is 5’ 7” in hight. Personality He is generally very kind and caring towards others no matter the situation really. He has no prejudice towards the Darcsens either, and believe in learning about someone on the inside rather then judge from the outside. He likes to have fun and mess around but can be serious when he needs to be. He has a very high dislike for war and would have rather avoided being a part of it in the first place so he complains about it sometimes. Like anyone else, he gets scared at the idea of being on the frontline fighting other people to the death, but he has to and he will see it through, even if he hates it and wants to be home with his family. He is also protective of others. He will defend someone if they are being harassed and he catches wind of it, even if he doesn’t know them to well. However he is also not very confident in himself, and is known to berate himself if something goes wrong or if he makes someone else upset or gets hurt. He also has trouble with small talk and trying to make conversation about things he has no relative interest in. Rank Private Role Lancer Speciality Fire Brigadier Equipment - Anti-Tank Lance - SB9 (Prioritized for user safety and accuracy, but less directly powerful) - VD-2 Blast Shield - Ragnaid - AD-3 Blast Suit - Stabilizer Suit: Gyroscopic suit meant to evenly distribute the weight around the body, allowing for more flexible movement and reduced recoil. Potentials Protective Defender - Upon seeing others getting in trouble or harmed he will jump in to help them be it through conversation or targeting foes with his gun. Either way he tries to help others in need when they need it. Family Thoughts - Thoughts of his family drift in when he sees someone do something his family would do. This distracts him as he worries about his family at how and has trouble focusing afterwards. Self Hatred - Failing to do something right causes a sort of self hatred. Causing him to lose motivation and any need of self care. Fight for Family - Seeing others working together brings him motivation to fight for what he believes in. He feels a need to protect and defend the squad and feels himself supercharged to protect his allies and friends. Biography Being born in Vinland, Austin grew up with a mostly peaceful life. Well, outside of school that is. Austin’s parents were kind and fun, but also strict when they needed to be. They taught both him and his little sister about respecting others and to treat people the way you wish to be treated, to which both he and his sister took it to heart. His mother stayed at home while his father worked in the ways of medicine and making curse for illnesses. He was always happy to be with his family. However once school came around things took a much darker turn. Through his many years of school, he was bullied harshly by a group for no particular reason other than to just be mean. They berated him, hurt him both physically and mentally, and he even thought of ending his life several times. None of the authorities in the school cared enough to help him and so one day he finally defending himself and ended up in a brawl with the leader of this group of bullies. In the end he won, barely and managed to get the kid expelled. Thus disbanding the group. But even after that he was the target of a lot of bullies in the school which lead to further self hatred and the thoughts of suicide increased. However he was luckily able to transfer to a different school for his 8th year and he managed to get the help he needed for his self hatred by making friends. However he never really stopped questioning his abilities, he always will have a part of him that hates himself. But despite all this, he never stoped being kind to people. His teachers his peers, he’ll even random people in his neighbourhood. He always treated them with kindness and respect, because his parents drilled it into him. As he grew up, he found that he had a profound interest in the arts. Not for drawing, but rather, acting, performances, singing, these were things he enjoyed and he decided to enroll in said classes to learn all he can about them. His little sister joined him in his high school and they were almost inseparable. They loved each other dearly and would stand up for one another time and time again as the days went by. However eventually the worst came, wartime..... While many were volunteering for the warfront to push back the Empire off of Federation soil, Austin remained at home with his sister and parents. He hated war, he found the whole concept of murdering others as ridiculous and as stupid as a flying whale. He and his family were lucky enough at the beginning of the war that they had enough people volunteering for the war that they had no need to force others to join, which was a sigh of relief for Austin. However, as time passed by, he knew that recruiters would be coming back to make a more direct approach to recruiting people who didn’t come down the first time they we’re here. And right he was about that fact. For about a month later as he was helping his mother cook dinner for when his father got back from work, someone knocked on the door. His father wasn’t supposed to be home yet, so when he went to the door cautiously. When he opened it, he saw Federation soldiers, and he feared the very worst. He asked why they were here, and they replied with what he feared the most. They were here to bring people into the militia to fight off the Empires forces. Austin wanted to close the door but they had already walked inside and asked for everyone in the household. When his family was gathered there was nothing he could do. With his sister being 15 they couldn’t have her join the war and with his father at work they couldn’t get him to go right now. But sense he worked in medicine he might be left alone for the medical supplies to be made and shipped out to the army anyways. And his mother had to stay home to take care of his sister, which left, Austin. At first he refused blatantly, he did not wish to go to war, it was stupid. But the world isn’t so kind as he was told that it was either him or his mother, and make his father stay home from work during the war, and that was not something Austin could let’s happen. So he gave in, and told them to wait as he went to grab some spare clothes and his prized pendant, and as he went to his mother and sister, he hugged them tightly as both of them started crying, he wanted to promise he’d be back, he wanted to tell them he’d be ok by the end of this, but he couldn’t, he could lie to them like that. And so, he left with the soldiers as he waved goodbye to his mother and sister. And from that day onward, he was to train and get ready for the hardest part of his life, surviving war. When he left with the recruiters a little furball followed along, a stray cat what Austin cared for when he could, he called the male cat Bastian. The little sucker followed them and jumped onto one of the transports taking them off to train, and along they went. When Austin arrived he made friends with a fellow Vinlandian called Oliver Sinclair. While Austin was rather harsh with how he spoke due to his distaste with war he always apologized to Oliver afterwords. Then he noticed the cat...... He was on a top bunk in the training base so at least not many could see him, now he had to take care of this cat a shame he trained.... Oh well. At least he had pleasant company to get him through this. During his training he would be granted the “honour” of taking the role of Lancer, lugging about a heavy lance like weapon designed to destroy tanks. After awhile he was selected to be part of an experimental program by the Federation alongside Ollie to work even harder but also get access to better equipment. And while he was hesitant about the whole thing, he knew he really didn’t have much choice, so he accepted his role, besides, he might be able to defend his family better this way anyways. Bastian of course came with him, and was brought to a different training base for elite soldiers. It was rough to say the least. He went through much rougher drills than ever before, but it did make him stronger, and eventually became specialized as a Fire Brigadeir. It was a hard time but like before he got through it and was much stronger and more combat smart than when he began. Being brought to a specialized base with others like him who were selected for this special program. He’s still been trying to keep Bastian hidden away from the rest of them as he didn’t want them to take one of his only things that reminded him of home. Time passed and it was now late Autumn the year 1934, and they are getting ready to move to a new base more so on the front lines.
