Plain dumb. I don't know how else to word this for you."
Name: Andrew Surrey Age: 21 Sexuality: Heterosexual Nationality: Tyrella, Edinburgh
Appearance: Andrew is the one who looks thinner than he really is. He is average in terms of body proportion, but his regular exercises keeps his body lean and in shape. But this is not helped by the fact that he tends to have a clean cut style of clothing, often fashioning old long sleeved shirts beneath a darker colored winter jacket if he is not in his standard Engineer uniform. His bright blond hair is styled in a neat crew cut, contrasting the rather dull combination of grey-blue in his eyes. The general impression upon this man is that he tends to appear as a strict and serious person. While there are aspects that generally agree with the observation, Andrew actually is capable of dropping jokes and be funny more commonly than one would expect. But his deadpan style of humor doesn't help amending the image at all. Height: 175cm (5'7) Weight: 78kg (172 lbs)
Rank: Class/Subclass: Engineer Specialization: Tank Technician (Commander)
Equipment: - Brown M3 - F1 Grenades - Ragnaid - Repair Kit - BD-3 Light Armor - Lighter (Free Space) Potentials: Kite Enthusiast: His childhood hobby leads him down a path of much curiosity. One skill he learned from it is his ability to read the weather. Not only can he fairly accurately predict the incoming weather, but he can also use current weather situation to his advantage when taking shots. Iron Will: A product of a not so easy life, Andrew is not easily fazed when it comes to hardship. If something happens to him, it better kills him or else he would rise from the ashes. Blunt Honesty: 'The Surreys do not speak through flowers'. Andrew is one of the milder version, but he certainly does not let certain feelings prevent him from speaking his thoughts. He does attempt to soften the meat for the target audience to chew sometimes depending on the circumstances, but expect more often that he would just drop the anvil.
Biography: The Surrey household isn't a particularly well-off family, being both steel workers in factories, in fact from time to time they were bordering on the poverty line. It was due to their incredible diligence and discipline that both allowed them to survive tough times and still kept their hands clean from crime. However, for not taking the easier route to survival, the Surrey were stereotypically known for being serious, no-nonsense and straightforward hard workers, something in which their children unsurprisingly inherited. By the time of Andrew's birth, they were doing good enough not to starve, but nowhere being envious for an average citizen. Andrew was a kite enthusiast back in his earlier days. It was his favorite pastime to go to the nearby river after school and flew his kite until sunset. While some may dismiss this routine as childish hobbies, his family saw it as deep interests. He meddled with different types of kite, designing, creating them and testing them to see which one flew higher, at which time of the day and which weather condition. This went beyond the definition of a hobby, so his family swore he would be in no factories. They poured whatever money they made into ensuring Andrew would have a good education. Regardless, Andrew still had to muddle through various jobs to stabilize his school life. During high school, Andrew studied physics under the former EW1 war veteran Michael Daunte, who at the time was doing side-jobs while pursuing his PhD in Ragnite research. He thoroughly enjoyed Michael's teaching and was inspired to pursue his career of being a meteorologist. He was also curious about his teacher's strangely youthful and dwarf-like appearance, but the latter was not keen on talking about. By the time he was 19, Andrew was already an apprentice at a local weather station, assisting the workers there in weather measurement. His promising career was ground to a quick halt two years later when the second Europan War broke out. He was quickly drafted as an engineer and later graduated to become a tank technician. He astonishedly found out that his former teacher Michael also enlisted, despite his high social and career status could easily land him an exemption from service. Knowing how little Michael ever talked about his experience as a EW1 war veteran, Andrew was genuinely curious about his presence in his squad. Personality: A man who does what he says, means what he says and say what he wants to say. It describes Andrew Surrey rather well, although he is more than just so. As typical of his household, Andrew is very down-to-earth honest. His idea of a polite and productive conversation is one where speakers get straight to the point and does not dance around languages. If there is something that he doesn’t like, it’s a good bet that he would say it at some point. As he had also interacted with the higher classes of society, he understood that some people needed things phrased differently, but in his mind, he’d rather have it said than not. His ability and willingness to do the dirty and hard work is not to be understated. You can expect him to do multiple night shifts, carry weights of ammunition and equipment, or stand in the sun for hours without complaints, as long as they are justifiable and within reasonable possibilities. Doesn’t matter if it is a lowly duty, he’s willing to do it, and do it properly. As serious and honest Andrew can be, he can actually drop jokes here and there in certain situation, though it can be hard to identify. And despite seemingly harsh at points, he is quite a man of sympathy, able to understand some people’s issues and problems, and will still try to provide any aids if possible. His rather strange commitment to the war that a man of his intellect and spirituality would likely try to avoid was something Andrew very much wanted to know. One of the reasons why was because Michael was the source of his career inspiration, a nice teacher who treated him well as befitting of his skills and not his social status. Andrew looked up to the man, thinking he is too much of a contribution to die in a war like this. Also Andrew was interested in how a man worth the age of his father could look as young as him, but even God doesn't know how to explain that. Overcoming adversities will make you an inspiration."
Name: (Dr.) Michael Daunte Age: 39 Sexuality: Heterosexual Nationality: Tyrella, Edinburgh
Appearance: Michael had reached the tipping point of his height by EW1, and despite his constant plead, he still hadn't grown an inch since. This height epitome of a dwarf man was a very recognizable thing back in his days, and still is. He was also surprisingly resistant to the aging process. One would not expect this youthful face to about to reach the middle age of 40. However, comparing to his younger days, it is apparent that time still leaves a mark on the veteran of the First Europan War. His roundish child-like face had been shaped more sharply, his deep blue eyes no longer shied away from the flames ahead of his life. On his upper right arm was a small scar that was the memory of the haunting days of the first ever baptism of fire. His uniform is a non-standard Engineer uniform, one that placed his personal aesthetics more than combat comfortness due to his specialization in being in the backline more frequently than firing a rifle, with most apparently a double buttoned coat he wore outside the collared uniform that was embellished with his rank, specialization and squad number could be seen. Height: 152 cm (5'0) Weight: 52 kg (115 lbs)
Rank: Class/Subclass: Engineer Specialization: Tech Specialist
Equipment: - Lenfield M3 - F1 Grenades - Repair Kit - Ragnaid - BD-3 Light Armor - A Golden Fountain Pen (Free Space) Potentials: Engineering Master: His entire career was about the workings of a machine. Michael is capable of understanding, repair and manipulate the workings of a particular piece of engineering, let it be Ragnite-infused or not. Dialogues as Weapons: Michael knows how and when to use words to the best of its effectiveness. He knows that a meaningful conversation can be a powerful means to avoid many unnecessary conflicts.
Biography: Michael was born in a fine antique yet cozy mansion in the city of Tyrella, as a prestigious son of the first Viscount Daunte, the first position given to the family. Due to his mother's, Elizabeth, constant health issues and danger, she decided not to have a second child, and so Michael was her only hopes and dreams. All the education and care in the world goes to him, and it blended so well for a curious child like him. He was well-liked, performed well in school and was on the road to university in mechanical engineering. But things were cut-short by the outbreak of the First Europan War. Michael was close from not having to go, but his university enrolment confirmation came late, so he was shipped off to war. It was brutal. It was horrifying. Especially in the half a year of his conscription. He was tossed around the battlefield like a ragdoll, almost died twice, witnessed the death of so many of his companions. An experience no one would want to replicate. But within the trauma laid the silver lining. He persevered. The constant fear he had at the beginning slowly began to melt away as he looked at the flying bullets in the eye and moved forward. The haunting memory would still linger in his mind for the rest of his days, but Michael realized that the whole world wasn't just his feelings. He became courageous. And he survived the war, a man changed out of his old comfortable shell. After the war, Michael immediately returned to his currently on hold career plan. He finished university with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for a railway company in Edinburgh as an engineer for a good three quarters of a decade. He also married Lucia Farris, a fellow squadmate he fought with during the war, in a small religious ceremony with his family and some of his former squadmates attending. Her trauma from the war was significantly worse than Michael's, and most importantly she was quite an airhead comparing to the rest of the more educated Dauntes. Michael's parent were quite surprised that Michael's preferred soulmate was her; they initially thought that he would choose upper class ladies, but soon they understood why they both fell in love. The kind understanding and help from Michael's family helped Lucia's recovery and social integration greatly. Michael's lust for curiosity did not keep him still, however. After accumulating enough money from working, Michael left the railway company and went back to university and studied his PhD in Ragnite Engineering. All the while, he worked as an instructor at a local high school. That was where he first met Andrew Surrey, a particularly diligent and quite bright student in one of his physics classes. At the time, Michael didn't pay him much attention until he noticed Andrew coming to meet Michael frequently personally. Impressed that a student was willing to put in the extra effort after classes, they developed a rather formal friendship, and from his teacher Andrew decided to become a meteorologist. They parted ways after two years, in which Michael had finished his doctorate and was working as a Ragnite researcher for the government. But tension was brewing in the horizon. And this time it wasn't like the first time. The societal changes and how people view Darcsens in some regions, especially in the Imperial Alliance, appeared to become more and more radical. Early near-misses of a conflict between Imperial and Federation forces made Michael worry. Not for his own safety this time, though: his high status could get him exempted from military service. It bugged him significantly about how this could be a spark to a new Europan war. And the outcome of this war would likely bear terrible consequences if fell into the wrong hands. Michael knew he needed to take actions, even if he alone probably couldn't do much. Personality: Michael started the first war a fearful and daunted boy, he left the war a courageous and war-hardened man. While the whizzing bullets would still flinch and could still make him panic, Michael knew how to look at it and fought on. He empathizes with sufferings, tragedies and sadness, and is a sweetheart at times. He cares about his squadmates equally, and would be willing to go the extra miles if it meant their safety. However, with his own example to cite, Michael believed that life is the biggest teacher of all, so he would often let those who were going through hard times to overcome it themselves instead of helping them all the way, only giving guides to make sure they were going on the right track. If there is anything that hasn't changed throughout his entire life, it would be his spiritual life. Michael adheres to a rather minor religion in Europa, who also believed in a higher being creating the world, but focused more on doing good deeds and humanitarianism instead. He believed that one person ought to do the best of his ability to contribute to the betterment of humanity, even if it just meant being a decent person, and so he tended to have little patience for people who is to go the opposite direction. A lot of his characteristics resembled Michael, and his willingness to pursue honest work and education impressed the noble Edinburghian. He believes that Andrew has the potential to do good in the future, but war can break a man as much as it can make a man. Michael saw it for his very own eyes, so he is willing to see to it so it does not happen to Andrew.
