Doin' them in pairs for the sake of brevity. But man, is there a lot to explain.
Names Marinette Dupain-Cheng / Ladybug & Adrien Agreste / Cat Noir Appearance Hero mode and their regular selves. Series of origin Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Personality Both Marinette and Adrien share a few traits, due to being an evil-fighting duo; they're both kind and caring, always trying to be helpful to everyone they encounter. Being teenagers, though, does mean they have the same emotional issues of any other. Marinette is easily flustered, especially when things concern Adrien. She's prone to fits of jealousy, anger, and annoyance, and can be quite self-centered when she's too focused on something, as well as a nasty habit of holding grudges. But Marinette is quick to make up for rash judgments or rude behavior, being incredibly thoughtful to her friends and family. Marinette is also incredibly resourceful and clever, both in and out of her Ladybug persona, though this easily can lead to her overthinking herself into a tizzy. Adrien, on the other hand, has a much better handle on his emotions. He's prone to forgiving others even when their bad qualities outweigh their good. and tends to be more reserved due to his upbringing. Though, his sheltered childhood made him a bit emotionally immature - he's impulsive and gullible, quick to act when he can get away with doing so. He lets loose when he's Cat Noir, being cocky and show-offish, and overall much more out-going than his usual self. Abilities When using their Miraculous, Marinette and Adrien gain increased strength, agility, stamina, and endurance; nothing major, but enough to make a difference (ie, being able to lift/carry/throw grown adults with ease, jump higher and farther than normal, able to take a beating, etc). Each Miraculous also has with it a special power, activated through saying the name aloud. This is crucial, since even saying the words casually while transformed will cause the power to activate, and being rendered mute will leave them unable to do so entirely. Due to their age and inexperience with their Miraculous, Marinette and Adrien can only use their Power once, and will be forced to transform back five minutes after they use it. As Ladybug, Marinette holds the power of Creation, granting her the Lucky Charm, which creates just the right item needed to solve whatever conflict she's in. Usually, the item's purpose isn't clear, and the proper way to use it has to be figured out by Marinette. Also, the Ladybug Miraculous that Marinette has is the only one capable of countering Hawk Moth's and Mayura's own powers, as well as being able to undo any damage done by the villains, by tossing her Lucky Charm in the air, where it disperses into magical butterflies that put everything back to normal. Cat Noir has the power of Destruction, in the form of Cataclysm. Black energy swirls around Adrien's right hand when he uses it, and whatever he touches with it will break - from corroding metal to crumbling rock and even short-circuiting electronics. A Cataclysm can be held in Cat Noir's hand for as long as his transformation holds. He doesn't have any control over what the Cataclysm affects, so the next thing he touches once it's activated will absorb its use. On the flipside, Cat Noir won't be able to use that hand unless he uses up the Cataclysm on something. Equipment Marinette's and Adrien's ability to turn into Ladybug and Cat Noir comes from magical artifacts known as the Miraculous. Each Miraculous is home to what's known as a Kwami, small animal-like fairies that bestow their powers onto the Miraculous users. Kwamis have personalities and can act on their own whenever their Miraculous is not in use. Also, each Miraculous user gains a Tool of some sort, usually a weapon or device that they can fight with (along with other uses). The Ladybug Miraculous, used by Marinette, looks like a pair of earrings (camouflaged and active) and is inhabited by Tikki. To transform into Ladybug, it's "Spots On", while to transform back is "Spots Off". Ladybug uses a Yo-yo, which she uses to summon her Lucky Charm and to deal with Akumas and Amoks. Can also be used as a telephone, a mirror, and a breathing device, as well as a tracker for Cat Noir (when he's transformed). The Cat Miraculous, used by Adrien, looks like a ring (camouflaged and active), and is inhabited by Plagg. To transform into Cat Noir, it's "Claws Out", while to transform back is "Claws In". Cat Noir uses an extendable staff, which has no limit to how far it can extend. Like above, it can be used as a phone and a breathing device. On top of this, both characters have smartphones, as well as supplies of macaroons (Marinette) and cheese (Adrien) to feed their Kwamis whenever they need to recharge. They also have special magic versions of their respective snacks, though that will be addressed below. Character alignment Neutral Good Other Both Marinette and Adrien have special versions of their Kwami's food, made from Potions, which grants the Kwami a unique form and allows for their hero transformations to change, too. The issue is that there's about 7 different kinds, with only 2 being shown, and a third being talked about. A potion that grants water-based traversal, ice-based traversal, and space-based traversal. I'm omitting these for the moment until either they fully show up in the series or I can work out what the others do with the GM. He has been chasing the same goal for the better part of a year, and lets nothing get in the way of that, no matter how often he's failed. He's secretive, secluded, and distant from life, even from his own son, due to this obsession. Pragmatic and persistent, Gabriel can be manipulative and frighteningly clever in pursuit of his goals, doing whatever it takes to accomplish his plans. He has his limits, of course; despite his cold exterior, he cares deeply for his son, Adrien, and is very protective of both him and Nathalie, who he's only included in his plans due to her unwavering devotion, but never more than he absolutely needs to. Nathalie, in that vein, is willing to push herself past limits Gabriel himself set. She will do anything for him, even to her own detriment. Prim and proper, Nathalie fits perfectly into her role as Gabriel's assistant and Adrien's caretaker. She's as emotional as Gabriel himself is (that is, not very), but she is often less strict on Adrien than his father. She is tireless in aiding Gabriel in either side of his life, driven by love, even if it's to an end where Gabriel will not be with her. Abilities As with the heroes above, Gabriel and Nathalie get enhanced when using their Miraculous. Due to them being older and better trained in using the Miraculous, however, results in them not having the time limit as the heroes do. Their Miraculous also work very differently from how the others do. Gabriel, as Hawk Moth, holds the power of Transmission. Hawk Moth imbues a butterfly with dark energy and sends it out as an Akuma. An Akuma possesses an object, allowing Hawk Moth to bestow powers on whoever is holding it, as well as the ability to talk directly to them. His power works off negative emotions - he can sense them, and his Akumas only infect those that have them. Once Akumatized, the victim transforms into a supervillain, with powers pertaining to their akumatized item, what drove them to be akumatized, etc. Hawk Moth has no real control over those he Akumatizes, having to resort to manipulation and the threat of removing their powers if they don't comply. The Akuma merely deepens the bad emotions a person has, and can even be resisted if the emotions subsist or if the victim has a strong enough will to reject. Once they turn, however, the Akumatized villain is usually too far gone to listen to reason. A person can be Akumatized more than once, and can be given new powers and forms if the Akuma touches a different object. Multiple people can also be Akumatized if they meet the same emotional peaks while they're touching the same thing - this can either make a much more powerful villain from all victims, or, if the victims were already Akumatized in the past, can turn them all into their previous villainous selves. Similarly, Nathalie holds the power of Emotion as Mayura. It's identical to Hawk Moth's Akumatization, with a handful of differences; instead of butterflies that turn into Akumas, Mayura turns feathers from her fan into Amoks. She can target anyone, so long as they are feeling a strong emotion of any kind. Mayura can then talk to the person the Amok attaches to, through the same method as Akumas (the Amok touches an object the person has and possesses it), and if the Amok is not rejected by the person, can be used to summon a Sentimonster. Sentimonsters, unlike Akumatized villains, are much more monstrous in appearance, and can be directly controlled by whoever is holding its Amok. Mayura also has more direct control over them, as she can force their movements, and dispel them at will. Equipment The Butterfly Miraculous, used by Gabriel, looks like a jeweled brooch (camouflaged and active) and is inhabited by Nooroo. To transform into Hawk Moth, it's "Dark Wings Rise", while to transform back is "Dark Wings Fall". Hawk Moth has a Cane. The Cane has a detachable sword inside of it, and the stone at its top can house Butterflies and Akumas for later use, as well as a sort of tracker for his Akumas. The Peacock Miraculous, used by Nathalie, looks like a metal brooch (camouflaged and active), and is inhabited by Duusu. To transform into Mayura, it's "Spread My Feathers", while to transform back is "Fall My Feathers". Mayura uses a hand-fan, the feathers of which she uses to make her Amoks. There's no other use for it. Character alignment Neutral Evil Other Akumas and Amoks can be freed by breaking whatever they are inhabiting, and is key to defeating the Akumatized/Sentimonster it made. If it isn't taken care of once it's free, though, the Akuma/Amok multiplies and infects other people, creating copies of whatever it summoned, before returning to Hawk Moth/Mayura. If the original victim is possessed by the Akuma/Amok again, all copies become active at once, requiring every Akuma/Amok to be captured.
Woof, what a long one. Hopefully it's not too wordy :v
