Sometimes, it was hard to tell if you were being insulted, particularly when people mentioned children... it didn't [i]seem[/i] like it, but to the already-irritated vampire it was one of those times she wished that alcohol actually had any effect on her. Maybe it would make dealing with idiocy more pleasant.

"As a knight by birth and de facto most senior commander in Thaln's paladins," Tyaethe started, not that the role [i]meant[/i] much given their low numbers, "I have to attend noble or royal balls [i]far[/i] more than anyone should stomach. 

"So yes, I met Phoran Cal before the rebellion as he attended court. I also met his father, grandmother, most other immediate relatives that didn't hold the title, and I even met his daughter a few times before he rebelled. It's safe to say that I probably met, in some capacity, the entire command structure of both sides of the rebellion. Why?"
